Rev3+ use MAP based ECU as apposed to AFM. Different cams, different head porting, higher flow injectors, different turbo (as mentioned), steel headgasket as standard, twin syncros on the gearbox.

That's about all I can think of for now :D

So could I put a CT20 on my rev2?

I'm after a CT26 atm to replace my current one.. what would be the advantages / disadvantages of going with the CT20?

Can't seem to get hold of a decent CT26 atm.. :(

Yeah you can but the rev3 turbo on.
Gains are boost till the redline, where the stock CT26 on the rev1/2 runs out of puff.

Why don't you just ask me?

As above :thumleft: Holds boost to redline........

However the power delivery is a lot smoother...Its not as much of a kick in the back that the CT26 gives you....

Ceramic turbo so more fragile than the CT26 :-s

Get a ct26 hybrid, best of both worlds - power all the way to the redline and more of it at standard boost, allows higher boost and has steel blades and shaft (I think). Only drawback is a slight increase in spool time but seeing as the 3SGTE has no low down torque anyway it doesn't make much difference.

Well looks like I am sticking with CT26.. not too worried about getting any power increases at the moment.. mk2 tubby is enough of a beast for me at the moment (well once it works) just want it back on the road really.. been without it just less than a week and its killing me already

Engine is now out, and new one arriving monday :D Got a few offers for CT26's so looks like I can just pick the one I want :D

Going from a rev1 turbo to a rev3 turbo I think the difference is massive

The rev3 turbos are just a completly different car.

Such a more modern feel to the whole driving experience the power delivery is so much smoother and the power is there all the way to the redline :thumleft:

Also the brake's feel loads better, much more bite and power (same as rev2) Also there is a noticeable improvment in fuel economy.

I would say its obvious that throughout the life of the MR2's toyota had a gradual evolution of the model, culminating in the Rev3+ obviously there are slight improvments in the rev4 and 5 but i thought i would group them all togrther as rev3+ as the differences are minimal.

The Rev3+ just feels more stable (thanks to the redesigned rear subframe), safer , refined and generaly a more modern car.

I must say that the rev1 possibly has a bit more drama about it (In a good way  ) The rev3 will understeer just before you reach the limits where as the Rev1 will hold untill oversteer.

The rev1 Has more adjustment in the suspension geometry and in the hands of an experrt driver I feel It would perform equally as well as a rev3+ car apart from the power difference.

Above all please remember that I have now Drunk a full bottle of Havana Club rum and may be talking poo
