Car ticking over at 1500rpm and loss of boost

Post by fastcar0605s »

Hi all

This has only just happened and i havn't got a clue whats going on
my car was ticking over quite nicely at 1000rpm then for no reason it whent to 1500rpm and stayed there.

my car normally boosts at 1 bar but now i can only get 0.5 bar
i had the car in second gear at one point and throttled the accelerator to make distance from someone who was on my rear bumper i herad the dump valve then the revs dropped to 1000 rpm and i got full boost back for about three minutes then the revs picked up again.

Could it be the dump valve?
could it be a faulty air sensor?
could it be the alternator?

Please help its driving me mad!!

Cheers all

1)Do a diagnostic!

2)Check all your hoses for boost leak! sounds like on idle the car is taking in air not measured by the airflow meter.

3) reset ecu.

 report back if no success, im sure the diagnostic will throw code or 2 at you though!

Sounds like an air leak after the throttle body between the cylinder head.check your vac pipes and gaskets etc,
betcha!had it a few times on mine with w*nky silicone vac tubing.

Yeah, I'd go with a vac pipe blown off the manifold somewhere.. you been fitting those silly sillicone hoses all over the engine ( like what owens mentioned ) ??

Silicone hoses are nothing but bloody reliability problems.
