My Mk2 Turbo - BOOSTY - ...Respray, Berk IC, Tein Coilovers, Link G3

Post by jrleech »

Thought it was about time I made a thread in here and just keep adding to it :)

The beginning.....

Bought my 1995 Rev3 GT T-Bar Turbo in January 2007. Other than a garage and the bloke who owned it a month or 2 (got a company car), it had 1 UK owner for 7 years from import. I bought it as a completely standard car, no mods ever fitted apart from the alarm!

I fitted a new stereo, Momo gear knob and wheel, re-wired the rear lights for quad brake/fogs, fitted my TRD rear strut brace, cleaned up the engine bay a bit, then gave it a good service...

Next came some new alloys, as the old stock ones were a bit tatty:

.... then next, a Berk Technology exhaust:

A new registration, M800STY was transferred (M BOOSTY), hence the car is now called BOOSTY (sad I know :D).

Started a full respray last week, too many stone chips, little dents and faded paint on the bumpers, so it had to be done!

I stripped down the car at the bodyshop:

Went back today and it's progressed loads:

Loads more to come :)

The Berk exhaust is superb, exactly what I was after.

It pops occasionally after some heavy throttle runs, but it's quite tame at the moment.

Not de-catted yet, but it's on the list of things to fit (I've got the downpipe, and a Berk Intercooler and a HKS EVC6 sat on the shelf waiting to be fitted)....

Been back to the bodyshop today for a nosey, and the car & front and rear bumper is painted and lacquered! He has been busy... Just the bonnet, boot and engine lid plus all the smaller parts left to paint and lacquer now.

Slight hitch in the paint department as his supplier has run out of Pearl paint (which accounts for about 75% of the mix) and can't get any more until the end of next week.

Fortunately thanks to the internet, I've managed to order another 2 litres of the stuff to be delivered on Monday, so all should be back on track :)

Forgot my camera today, so no pics...

Well, it was ahead of schedule, all painted up and spent Friday and Saturday at the bodyshop re-building the car.

I've re-fitted everything I can, but waiting on the Windscreen from AutoGlass who I'm not very impressed with. When they removed the old windscreen, they said they'd hold onto the new one, as it'd be safer. They came back on Friday afternoon to fit it, but without the windscreen which they thought I had. Came back on Monday morning after finding the new windscreen again, but there was now a big scratch in it. Took it away and ordered a new one. As they hadn't ordered it at 4:30pm when I rang up to check, I presume that's why it's not here today, and now the ETA is Wednesday.... which gives me Thursday morning and Friday (going to have to take the day off work now) to:
- Remove seats
- Thoroughly clean interior (full of dust now)
- Re-fit interior (head linings etc)
- Wash Car
- Glaze, Sealant, Wax, Wax, Wax

Will get some pics when it's all back together....

Also think I'm leaving it de-badged (except for the front Toyota badge). Got new MR2 and GT badges, but liking the de-badged look...
