I remember going to that depth once in my MK2, heavy rain as I travelled back on a remote country drive and the police kept closing roads, got to one of the last options and saw a landrover turning around after deciding the water was too deep, I'm sure I floated some of the way but I made it :)

when you where floating, did you keep the gas on?
surely that would have propelled you along a little if the exhaust was submerged? :)

Gas was on, it was like the Titanic minus the big chunk of ice.

I figured the air filter sits high enough to risk it and it worked out OK, the only issue was one of the arch liners popped of it's mountings at the bottom due to the force of the water.

It was a case of risk it or sleep in the car on the top of a moor.

this is a funny thread. i remember trying to cross a fjord in my old car which was lowerd . i didnt realise the river was quite swollen for some reason and ended up about a foot or so under water . steam every where. exhaust underwater and makin some strange noises and water flowing in from the bottom of my doors. luckily i made it to the other side. car was sliding a bit to the side under the flow of water. which was quite scrary.

Waves crashing over the bonnet, battery light coming on car stuttering but I made it

a week later my carpets stank of stagnant water :(

Hehehe, thats an excellent find. I don't think I'd venture into a pool of water that deep if I could help it! Brave driver there - wonder if it's anyone on here?

bit of topic (sorry) but redMR2, what front bumper is that? it looks like a more rounded border style bumper - looks fantastic! And I'm also a big fan of your avatar
