Not only would you be in the sh!t but also the person who is "supervising" your driving will also be in the sh!t too. Anything you do as a learner driver is ultimately the responsibility of the person supervising your driving and any points will also be included on their licence. How popular do you think that would be if you have no insurance and get caught and your "supervisor" gets done for no insurance as well. Any of my mates did that to me then they'd be on the wrong end of a very large slice of shoe pie!

Jeez what’s with the attitude fella??!!

Whether you insure it with a provisional or not will surely be down to each insurer, but i'm sure you will struggle to find an insurer to do so due to the very high risk the average person with that type of license is viewed to have.

I'm not surprised you’re struggling with a tubby! It’s pretty common for insurance types to ask that people driving high performance cars have at least a few years with a FULL license and/or be over a certain age in order to minimise the risk to themselves.

BTW please don’t ever have children because you sir seem to be the genetic equivalent of a cul-de-sac.

MR_BLACK_GTS wrote:last guy .. i just found out u CANT insure the car with provsional

and even when u pass....... u have to have license for 2 YEARS

so ur talkin out ur ass

No you didn't at all, because you CAN insure on a provisional and not ALL insurers will ask if you've been driving on a full license for 2 years.....

Unless I have missunderstood you in which case..

My apologies if your bad grammar and sentence construction confused me a little......

Thought you already had that?

The problem is the current situation being provisional is it not?

Just phone around all the usual: A-Plan, Sky, Elephant, Admiral, Tescos, Adrian Flux etc and see what they say.

You'd probably be best getting a parent or similar to insure the car and you go named for 2 years...

No, I am not "talking out my a55."

I am now a 30 year old male who is married and when I came to england I had had my US license for 12 years with no claims or convictions. I insured it on an international license first and it cost me ~1400 TPFT which I found excessive but I realized it was kinda what I was going to have to pay. Then after a year I renewed with the same company, I was legal to drive for the second year as I had been back to the states for several months and thus my year driving privilege was renewed on my international. I then applied for a license and was driving on my international whilst having a provisional. I have now renewed again just last week and my rates have come down to 700 fully comped with a 150 excess and breakdown and the like. My insurer? Footman James.

Oh, and when I arranged insurance the first time I called about 20-30 places before I found FJ to insure me. And the next year Endsley (sp?) emailed me a quote to try them for the year and the figure given was 9,999.99 for the year might still have that email about . . . .

Mike

Also, Why have you come on the forum asking for advice then been such a little brat to those you are asking for help?

I have found the IMOC community a vast wealth of information and a group of people who generally want to help a mate out perhaps you need to take a step back and examine what you are bringing to the table.

Again, NOT. COOL.

Shop around. Spend 3-6 hours on the phone and find someone willing to take the risk. Play the companies against each other. "Company X has quoted me so much can ya beat it?" I took a reduced mileage plan initially to reduce the cost. I fit a 400 pound alarm to help out too. in the end sometimes ya gotta bite the bullet and get rump raped. The insurance on my wifes Legacy B4 came to 2700 for a year comprehensive when she first got over here. we now have that at about a grand but for the privilege of driving a 300 HP twin turboed super saloon you gotta pay someone.
