Front wing mastic/sealer

As my restoration nears completion (only 2 years late! ) I am re-attaching the front wings, there seems to be some sort of rubber gasket or is it dried up sealer where the wing attaches to the body, what is this and does anyone know where I can get some?

No hurry I've got the lovely task of removing the remains of the snapped off two lower mounting screws for both wings before I re-attach them.... one has broken off with a stub so I can weld a abolt on but one is flush

Hopefully I should have some pics of the car post respray this weekend too

Its just seam sealer, you should be able to get it from any body panel supplier.

I used a rubbery tape stuff for mine, don't know the proper name for it, but it was like draught excluder, peel off sticky tape surface one side and spongy rubber above. Worked a treat and no mess either.

Where was that? I never saw anything when i took mine off...

They are actually strips of rubber, you can get them from Toyota, don't know the part number but I got some a couple of months back. They have the holes cut ready to place under the wing edges HTH.

I think it's called Butyl tape.

my wings never had any tape or sealer under them, but I did apply Waxoil under sealer to the areas before fitting the new wings.
