At least then youve a cats chance of catching them armed with your hockey stick/baseball bat 8)

if it's parked on a street everytime a car or 2 goes past it will set it off - that would make him popular with the neighbours

Hi Frank,
Well the beauty of the system is you can activate silent mode, where just the indicators flash, to warn, but you still get paged on your keyfob, either by sound or vibration. Anyway, it will take more than a car going past it to set it off. There is a Nova that goes down my street that sets the 'warn' mode off though :x

I got proxy alarm on my car... it goes off whenever anything bigger than a bike goes past in the road!! 2-3 times a night!! I turn it off now except when i'm parked not outside my house!

These proxy alarms sound like a good idea. Anyone else got any opinions on these? Even just the indicators flashing might put people off going near my car.

My Clifford Concept 500 had a proxy sensor. Used to chirp if a cat farted near it, no good for street parking. I used to disable it most of the time.

I paid £350 for it fitted and with removal of my old alarm... it was cash in hand mind tho I did get a reciept!

I do agree that its no use for on street parking on a narrow road.. but its definately a deterrent, since I got it I havent had any more damage / breakins touch wood... might be the bright blue flashing light in my windscreen?

nice idea, but also bloody illegal for some daft reason, unless you put up signs telling them that they are being filmed!! bloody PC brigade gone mad!

my ex G/F had one outside her house (well, her mums) and one night, some local nobs decided to break into te garage & pinch her brother's scooter. caught them on film & handed it into the police, showing clearly who did it, "can't use that sorry love, it's illegal to film someone wothout their concent" christ!!

so as you say, option 'b' of 'other' punishmet was carried out, helpfull when her father in law is a.............. well, person you don't mess with!!

I heard that too!!! Bloomin outrageous IMO. If that was my film i'd have stills produced of every good mugshot and plaster them all around the neighbourhood and beyond. Hopefully then someone would give a good kicking for looking at the wrong car or let me know who it is so I can pooh through their letterbox.

Gives me the right hump!!!

I had someone spitting on my window when I parked it outside the pub, after 3 times I got a tad wound up and waited, then a lad I knew came out a spat on the windows so I walked over and asked him what he was doing (he was surprised I was there) so I grabbed him and cleaned the window with his back and gave him a nice warning,

it never happened again,

I think the ideal solution would be to a, get a proxy sensor or b, get a camera, a rather large 6 D-cell maglite and a lot of printer cartridges. Film whichever xxxx does it, print a picture and place on the dash in the car. Drive around having fun in your mr2 particularly near the university as there are lots of cheeky birds, and hopefully you'll come across the git that did it. Proceed to pull up next to him. Have your mate step out, cap his knees with the maglite and get back in the car with one swift move and pull away with a smile on your face. job done! Anyone would think i'm part of the IRA! Just a born and bred hull lad with an imagination... and a brain...i think!

Bad as each other aren’t they? (Mind you I’m a tad bias since Soton Uni kicked me off my course.) I think it depends where you live in Southampton I’m on Burgess road and you get cars vandalised most night from the Scum creeping in from the Flowers Estate. Many a time I’ve given them a wave to let them know I’m watching them.

This sort of thing is becoming far to common now, when i lived at my last place i had every window smashed planels keyed and kicked in,sterio nicked, spat on the lot!!!! So i put one of those camaras up from argos.Cought the little twits, showed the coppers and they gave the same excuse!! This country has gone mad, burgerls and vandals shouldnt have rights, once they commit the crime they should be stripped of all rights and be put in the town square fotr a good public flogging, then if they survive be given the longest jail sentence for that crime!!!And im not talking about the coushy jails they got now i mean 4x6 room small bed and a bucket and made to work hard labour!! If that was brought in,you see how many crimes r commited then, not many!!!!
They only commit these crimes cos they know they can get away with it,the laws far to soft!!! ](*,)
Sorry rant over...jus gettin that off my chest.
Any way i had there pictures..they wont be playing football for a long time now hahaha chav scum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I drive through Burgess Road on my way home from work and have seen first hand, scum from the flowers estate nick a laptop from the seat of someones car in broad daylight, 5.30pm in rush hour traffic (It's a very busy road!) in the middle of last summer!!

Worst of all, I drove past as it happened and saw the three of them run accross the road behind me into the estate (one of them on a bike). As I approached the next set of traffic lights I saw a police van coming towards me so thought i'd lend a hand and go see where they run off too. I drove into the estate watched them disappear into a house then drove back round to Burgess road to find the Police van.

Get this... no word of a lie!!!

I pulled up on double yellows in front of the Police van which was parked directly opposite the victims car on the other side of the road. The manager of the shop had seen the whole thing and was already talking to the cops. I went up to the van and started to tell them that i'd followed the lads that smashed the car window, took what appeared to be a laptop and seen them go into a house nearby. The friendly coppers told me that they had a good idea who the culprits were anyway from the description the shop manager had given and they couldn't do anything there and then because they were only there to catch speeding cars (IN BLOODY RUSH HOUR!!!) and besides that, the owner of the stolen laptop wasn't there to report the crime!!!!!

Then I was asked to move my car from the double yellows because I was causing an obstruction? :-s

They didn't even take my details as a witness. Poor, very, very 'P' poor.
I was fuming, but I can't imagine what the victim must of felt.

Oh, and while i'm at it, my neighbour just 2 doors away was burgled last week, just found out today!! I'm going to buy myself a high powered water pistol, fill it with horse wee and shoot anyone that comes within 3 feet of my house!! 8-[

Now where'd I put that horse?

Saw a couple of burnouts when I lived in St Marys. We had a crack house in our street for a while but they got moved on, was on speaking terms with the hookers, but had no trouble myself and got on well with my neighbors. Didnt have a car then though. I've never been in the position to have to fight anyone. Hope I never have to.

This is ridiculous plain and simple. We are talking about someone leaving a kebab on the roof of a car!!

Please grow up. There are much better ways to deal with people that are far more effective than mindless stupid, immature violence.

I have a camera montioring my car, and it alerts if anyone goes near it, im an electrician so i got it at a good price, but even so, its still worth the money having a cctv system put up, my camera is hidden and is totally invisible unless you are shown it.

I agree.

That's not to say that I don't think a good dose of self defence doesn't go down well if needed. :eye:
And I would plaster pictures of the culprit/s all over my town. :)
