Discussion and technical advice the SW20 MR2. 3S-GTE, 3S-GE, 3S-FE etc
Anything and everything to do with maintenance, modifications and electrical is in here for the Mk2.
just got a 95 gt and I am getting wind noise from the drivers side door just by the mirror. I have heard this is curable but dont know how to tackle it any help would be apreciated
Ye I have the same problem, only just started noticing it and its starting to annoy me! Think its something to do with the tweeter installed in the mirror, could be letting the wind in through the screw holes??? taking guesses at the mo, will post up when I find a cure
I asked this a while back and got the suggestion that it could be related to the tweeter, but ive taken this apart and noticed no difference. Ive also noticed that the rubber bit where the window sits when fully up is very slightly split (next to the tweeter) on my car - so maybe thats to blame? Or maybe the seals just need greasing to expand them? Someone with some actual knowledge will probably answer this though!
aaa dam it dont does it!!
go on mr2oc.co.uk then go search type in Wind Mirrors. Basically what im saying is Ive sillicon sealed inside the offending areas and got new screws so the mirror is firm but no wind getting in behind the tweeter and it still literally makes a racket!
Think its the noise getting inside the mirror casing itself. which transfers the "noise" all the way through
What if one of you guys comes up with a new idea.....wing mirror spoiler....just a subtle lip type soiler across the mirror...colour coded.....would look quite smart and deflect the wind from the gaps..anyone thought of that and tried it?
i took the panel of where my tweeter is...and no tweeter! do u think the person before me had took them out and put uprated speakers in....i good sound quailty
The noise in my car is defo coming from the tweeter housing. I am going to take it to bits over the weekend and pack the gap with some builders foam or something, its REALLY starting to annoy.
please let us know what you find. Wind noise on my car has been driving me mad, hence all new weatherstrip install (on another thread).
If my weatherstrips stop all wind noise, I'll let you all know
