ebay wrote:IVE RECENTLY BEEN ASKED BY A POTENTAL BIDDER ABOUT DE REGISTRATION DOCUMENTS AS ITS A JAP IMPORT CAR. JUST TO CLARIFY THIS WOULD BE REQUIRED IF THE CAR WAS IMPORTED FROM JAPAN, BUT GIBRALTAR IS A BRITISH COLONY AND PART OF THE EU, SO THIS IS NOT REQUIRED.

I still dont honestly you can try and sell this for that money when you yourself have no idea what's involved in trying to get this registered in England.

I think your giving people false hope especially with the statement like you've added on ebay above. Especially with all the hidden costs for getting it registered like for example you never stated wether you've paid the duty/tax on the car when it entered into the UK.

Basically when it comes down to it your selling an unregistered car, with no tax or mot and your unsure what you need to register it, and are unable to disclose wether you've paid for the right for the car to be on UK soil.

Maybe you'd have more luck selling for spares for a few hundred quid if your that desparate to sell. Im not trying to have a go, I just dont want to see some unsuspecting owner blow all there hard earned money on something that they might never be able to use.

edited post to remove choice language.

I think he's got a point though, he's just trying to make it clearer about the costs involved, and help you sell the car.

I have no problem at all, apart from the fact you've no idea on what to do other than what i've originally told you in your other thread. So you've admitted you've never paid the tax on the car. How long has the car been in the UK? Has it exceeded the maximum time for being a guest?

Have you filled in and sent off your gibraltor log book to be noted that it's been exported?

Im not trying to make it difficult for you at all, I even told you to sell it for spares if you want a quick sale. The fact of the matter is your asking a fair amount for a car that someone is going to have alot of hassle with.

Know about messers on ebay...thats why you shouldnt let new people with 0 feedback bid.....you could try contacting the 3rd bidder to see if he/she is interested.

As in your other thread, try this guy, he buys MK2's:

http://mr2oc.co.uk/ForumsPro/viewtopic/t=64538.html

Or i would be prepared to go up to £275 for it. Could pick up on saturday, i'd "use" the plates off my black MK2 and tax, so hopefully there wouldnt be "much" of a worry !!!

Gilbraltar is not part of the EC so this would be classed as an import into the UK and duty and VAT will be due on this.

Why would customs know anything about registering a car???..............

Thats like asking a milkman for advice on the foundations of your house.

Your clueless, we've tried to help you but obviously you dont want the hassle and want to off load this onto some poor unsuspecting sod. As for getting facts right..... i've been in the business for over 15 years so i think i have some idea of what happens aswell as shaf who knows what he's talking about too.

Good luck with the sale..... I suggest "spares only".
