I bought this for my girlfriend a couple of months ago and the intention was to modify it within a £2K budget bought and built. After asking the advice on here it looked like it was going to be a tall task to ask but heres the results.its a UK mk2 NA.
The criteria i wanted was leather seats,T bar and under 100K milage. after looking at a few cars i found one (99,000miles 
) in mint condition apart from a couple of rust patches. The only problem was that it was white. Not a big problem, just more spraying to do as i wanted a dark colour for my girlfriend from the outset.
its been resprayed in a variation of midnight purple, got the kit off ebay cheap and wheels secondhand from ultralite directly.
All in it came to £2400 for the car and modifications. Probably the hardest tasks were finding the facelift for the rear end within budget and taking a risk with the 8.5/9.5" wheel combo but its all worked out great IMO. Let me know what you all think.
