From previous posts I know you use high ron fuel so it can't be that.

Perhaps you're running rich or the timing has been retarded due to the ecu sensing knocking?

What power are you running/what mods?

How are your iggy components?

mods are

Boost controller (just changing to avcr now, was mbc)
fcd
apexi filter
custom topmount intercooler
stage 3 hybrid CT26
exedy clutch
downpipe
light flywheel
ultra performance leads
platinum plugs
just had new dissy cap, leads, plugs, rotor arm
new lambda
japspeed exhaust

yeah i always use vpower. does the ecu still retart the timing then even when the VSV is blocked off, or is that just for the turbo?

its that ad that NA's are faster lol. no idea on what power im running yet as i am collecting bits for rev3 conversion then doing a before and after on a RR. most ignition bits are new as i had unstable revs for awhile so replaced alot of things until i saw my lambda wire was in half, new one cured it.

Lu

what cooling are you running on the top mount intercooler? Any fans or anything?

Theres a lot of heat coming from that engine/coolanmt pipes. The smic has a direct airflow over the whole face of the intercoller, giving maximum airflow eifficiency for it to dissapate heat.

Where you have your TMIC, TBH its not getting all that much air into it, and the air its getting is hitting the side, not the fins. I know you have heat wrap on it, but still, from what you are saying, I think this could be the problem.

its got air ducting directing air from vent to the underside and a 10" spal ontop. unfortunatly the spal isnt working as it was blowing fuses so has a lack of cooling at the moment yes.

wow would thisreally cause that much drag? :D hope thats all it is as its being rewired hopefully this weekend

Might be worth checking the ignition timing just to make sure its spot on. I would think that coupled with hot intake air could be a good reason for a sluggish car compared to an "out of the box" setup.

You would be suprised just how much difference!!!

Just a few degerees difference means the air entering the mix isnt as dense, therefore doesnt get as much fuel mixed in with it, therefore doesnt create as big a bang! in turn means less power turning the crank.

Would try and get an inline uprated fuse on the spal. Also dont forget that the intake will be taking on board a lot of the air that comes in on that side. The opposite side, the intercooler is selfish and can use all the air for its own purpose.

Once spal is working, I would think you will feel a lot of difference.

had fan on today andmade alittle difference, felt more responsive but it still feels sluggish so i checked my timing :(

either we were reading it wrong or what but it looked to be about 14 or 15!!! not the 10 that its supposed to be.

i bridged the 2 terminals and wet to the distrbuter to adjust, its pulled all the way to the 1 end and wont go any further, looks to have lowered it to about 12.

either the 2 of us ar looking at the readings wrong or its messed up.

one thing that does sping to mind is that i had a cambelt and tensioner change not too long ago, when i went to collect it, i tried to drive it off but it wouldnt accellerate above 25mph with foot flat to ground so went back around and took it in.
picked it up 2 days later, it seemed alot better but the whole car vibrated madly then settled, id assume this was down to disturbed mounts but that all went away.

wouldit have an effect like this if it was still out on the belt or something?

If you have turned the dizzy cap all the way to the stop and you still cant get the timing correct then i suggest you cam timing is atleast one tooth out..... which will make is feel sluggish.

will it have done any damage? its proberbly done about 8-9k

i originally thought the problemwas my turbo as that was dying you see so i didnt look into it but now ive swapped that and its still sluggish then about time i got it looked at
