[Mk2] [Generic] Thinking bout a rev5 beams

Post by mikee66 »

Past few months i've lost interest in cars completly and have hardly been driving my tubby. She's up in the for sale section at the moment but i can't decide what i want next.

I love the looks of the 2 but i want something fairly new so i was thinking about a rev5 beams or n/a

I reckon my car is worth about 5k but i'm wondering how good a rev5 i can get for that?

opinions?

(btw here's the ph advert for my car http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/143926.htm )

A rev 5 tubby would be better...

Why not wait til next year under the 10 year rule when you should be able to import em again :thumleft:

or go for a 97 rev 4 tubby?

BEAMS Car

Post by Tom Solan »

Hi saw your post and just thought I'd share this with you.

I import a lot of MR2s from Japan and this morning my guy over there offered me a 1998 T BAR G-LTD with a BEAMS engine and the cost was 1,450,000 Yen. To give you an idea this is £6250 cost in Japan then you have to add Japanese transport to docks, de-reg fees, agents fees, freight, import duty this end, VAT this end, agents fees, transport from docks, conversion, MOT, registration fee, RFL and you arrive at a COST price of £9875.25 I reckon you're gonna have to put some to your current car to buy one. Needless to say I didn't buy it. I have paid less for SW20 Spiders from the same guy. :(

Cheers

Why spend £5k on something you're not really interested in?

Good for you.

You're saying you've lost interest in your car, you barely drive it etc etc.

Perhaps going out and driving it and enjoying your car (it is a really nice car) will give you more enjoyment than selling it and buying another. I fell out of love with my mk1 over winter while it was laid up and off the road. I wasn't that bothered about working on it and never washed it, but now the good weather is here I'm back out with the roof off and loving every minute.

Why not spend 15K and get a car you like if you can. My MK1 cost £1500 and gives me more enjoyment than any modern car. It horses for courses. Or why not try a bike if you are board of cars.

by now, with the work you've had done on yours, you probably wouldn't get any benefit from a car of about 3 years younger. you'll just be setting yourself up for nearly at cambelt time etc. all over again.

Errrr

Beams is a bit of a step down from a turbo dude.

Go M3.

Or buy a BMX and get super rad on it!

Have you thought about getting a Cadillac Escalde, you can be pimpin like Jay Z

They can be got cheaper: http://www.carzone.ie/usedcars/index.cf ... rID=679348

I think that's not a great price even taking into account second hand motors are more expensive over here. I've seen them go as low as EUR9k
