In a nutshell Keith Cowie was banned from GTROC for continually trading and not paying (selling KC is great t-shirts, small stuff generally I think). So he went and set up his own forum, and from what I can see other people who went with him have made it their mission to disrupt the GTROC entry. That and GTROC have continually complained about a lot of the competition stuff, i.e. Simon Norris car not being a proper car, the regulations for this and lots of other things regarding tyres/safety and that the rules favour the handling circuit hence the Evos, they basically fell out with the organisers.

Personally I think it is a shame, this event was supported by clubs such as this in the beginning. Soon the Evos will win all the time every year and then who will care about it?

So basically the GTROC chaps are being a little unreasonable and can't grasp the ten of the best concept, they want to enter their own team of 10 as well as their being another team of 10... that's 20 of the best Skylines isn't it?

They also have a situation where their rep decided to give up and the chap who had slated the event previously and said he wanted nothing to do with it suddenly came forward and decided to do the job, I'm not sure I'd be that keen to work with him! They also have the problem where they insisted all entries were from paid up GTROC members, meaning they didn't manage to get 10 people and there are plenty of people who won't run for the GTROC begging for places... so they can't make a team up, someone else can... makes sense to run with it really but then the GTROC don't get any glory and get in a mood. Lots of silly politics, lots of crying about people not paying trader fees and so on... pretty typical GTR owner behaviour ;)

The joint club concept is the way forward, it limits teams to 10 places and it means other new clubs can join in again with 5 places each without the event being so busy that people don't get to run. It's more interesting to watch.

It wasn't quite as simplistic as that - they didn't require people to be a paid up member of any club in the end.

I think the real issue here is TOTB has to decide whether it wants to be a generic ten of the best of a marque or a club event. Either is fine, but at the moment it is a tad mixed.

"in the end" being quite recently... leaving a gap in the entry list that didn't look as though the GTROC would be able to fill it.

Anyway this is the MR2 entry thread, I still see their fannying around as a good thing for everyone else, with a bit of luck they won't be able to force themselves into the best pitlane slot now either so we can try and get it ;)

LOL well a good pitlane spot would be cool! But I do think it is a loss.

Do we have a list of this years runners from the MR2 Faction?

I think it would be good to see the 10 MR2's that are entering with projected power levels and a short spec list.

I don't know if the runners list has been confirmed yet - and even if it was, I'm not sure if they wouldn't want to keep some of it under their collective hats.. ;)

No, we are still waiting for a number of people to put in times to see if they qualify. We have lots of potential but currently only have 4 or 5 proven examples.

How else would we pick the team? Best alloys? ;)

By times you mean bhp figures?

Or is there a set curve of some sort of lap time?

Oh and i wouldn't judge by alloys, perhaps brightest neons :)

No proven quarter mile times. Big power is OK, but one doesn't necessarily lead to the other, there is a learning curve too.

By times, he means times - down the 1/4 mile (not dyno queen engines which have 1000bhp, but which can't put down the power)

Ok thanks for the info.

Nice to be down with the lingo :P

So its skill as well as bragging rights and dyno sheets.. Sounds like you should see some good competition in that case :)

Will that be with the new turbo mate or still with the 3071?
