[Mk2] [NA] Rev 1 Tune-up ideas

Post by Noisyhooligan »

Hi, I have made a few mods to my Rev1 NA and wondered if anyone has fitted a high capacity fuel pump or power boost valve. If so, what effect did it/they have? Also, is there much noticable power increase on fitting a cat by-pass pipe? Also the ICON ECU - any good?

So far, I have replaced the cams, honed the bores, balanced all engine components, skimmed the head and sharpened the intakes and fitted an Apexi induction kit. The engine runs silky smooth and is great to drive - I just want more power!!!

Best Regards,

H

You want a high compression (11.5:1 to 12.5:1), the best cylinder head you can get ported, very high lift medium duration cams matched to a custom exhaust manifold and port-matched on dowels, decat and straight through exhaust.

Then a link ECU to dial it all in. Cams probably 275 degrees duration max, with 10-11mm lift.

Should see 100-110bhp per litre, depending on how good your head/cam/exhaust manifold is.
