[All] [Generic] Rogue Motorsport MR2 breaks in to the 10's...

Post by Mikejc »

At long last I am happy to be able to report that a UK built, Rogue Motorsport MR2 has broken in to the 10's

Andrew Standering, (aka Spudfromengland) has done us all proud by coming away with an impressive 10.9 @ 127mph  I'm sure that Andrew will be along before too long to give us his account of the efforts made today. It's good to know that we finally have a 10 second MR2 built here on UK soil ahead of our Ten Of The Best bid this year \:D/

Congratulations to Andrew and the Rogue Motorpsport team for bringing home what I believe to be a first, our very own home grown 10 second 2 :thumleft:

I'm not being pedantic or anyhting, :^o but

"breaking into the 10s" means, you do the quarter mile in under 11.0 seconds. Fine.

But being "a 10 second car" surely means you can do it in 10 seconds or less, i.e. 10.0, 9.99 or faster...

Well, that's what it suggests to me?

Not that I'm trying to rain on anyones parade of course.

10.98 wasn't it?

Just in there :)

What confuses me is that whenever Andrew does well the threads are always "Rogue Motorsport car is ace" - what about the bloke who drives it? The chap who paid all the money for it? Let's give Andrew the glory first and then reflect on the chaps that built it eh?

Nobody will bother mentioning this but the other 2 MR2s who are running also got very respectable times, an 11.7 and an 11.04 - I haven't read any of the feedback from the Supra lot to see what times they were doing but the MR2 community did well today... not just Rogue Motorsport.

Mitch I congratulated Andy and Rogue within my post. I completely agree that the guy behind the check book and in the drivers seat should be praised.....as I have. But it should also be celebrated that this is in fact a UK built car, and more over the first UK built MR2 to have achieved a 10 second run up the 1/4 mile.

I'm more than sure that Andy himself would like to thank the guys at Rogue for having built him such a capable car, that is only natural :)

...and of course you're wrong.

You CAN throw lots of money at a car, but it doesn't mean it will be competitive. It really is down to the people that prepare it.

A hearty congratulations to Andy, and secondly to Patrick and the guys for preparing the car to such a high standard.

:thumleft: That sums it up for me, Rogue have clearly done a great job and continue to produce some of the UKs quickest MR2s, respect to them for that but big power and stickers mean nothing unless you have a driver capable of exploiting what's available and a wallet big enough to fund it ;)

Great achievement Andy, you must be well chuffed to do it first.
18 runs  bet you'll be treating the ol girl to an oil change now lol.
When you say drag wheels were they drag slicks or radials?
Are there any vids of the run i'd love to see it.
Ignore the jealous bitches on here Andy and enjoy the moment and again well done!

Hi Mark,

I used Toni gladdin's 255 60 16 drag radials,

but i have to say my 235 40 17 R888 did very well for a road tyre getting a 11.35.

Yeah the car need a little TLC now its had the ball ragged out of it, bottom end needs to be taken off and all checked through and ofc filled back up with some nice silkolene oil :D

my camera man (patrick  ) took alot of footage of alot of my runs and i would think monday he will post some vids on youtube.

Andy
