Engines, how much & Where from?

Post by Ian »

My 93 Na has done a few miles now, and looking for a replacement engine, any ideas what to pay for a Rev 3 engine out of MR2 or Celica, obvioulsy will need most of the ancilliaries, just wondering what one would go for?

I sold my rev 5 bundle (including SS zorst and HELIX clutch) for £800.

but that was very cheap as I wanted an easy life

I know I'm starting to sound like a stuck record  - but Rogue Systems do a lot of Tubby transplants.. so NA bundles are always knocking around their workshop - maybe ring them and find out what's coming in to get converted and they can put you onto the owners - that's what happened in my case - and they are more likely to sell it all cheaper as they don't want the hassle of ending up with an NA bundle (either Rogue or the donor owner)

Have to agree with you CosmosblueMR2, rouge to offer a great service. They didn't fit my new lump cos they are just too far away but I am very happy with my Rev3 Turbo.

It done 3K now so soon be time for the toys to go back on :D :D :D

My rev2 engine is soon to be at Rouge while they swap it for a tubby - probabaly a bit high mileage for you tho I would expect (74k)

I have a customer considering an engine transplant at the moment who may be willing to part with the engine from his 1998 UK MR2. If you want to drop me an email ([email protected]) then I'd be more than happy to pass your details on.

It's worth bearing in mind as well that if you source a revision 4+ uk engine and ECU you will also need the engine immobiliser ECU, transponder, coded key and will need to know how to wire it all into the vehicle's chassis loom. Most garages are unaware of this!
