"Selling my MR2"

Post by Hugo »

Dear all,

Just a thought, I have read recently with alarm the number of people on this and other sites that are threatening to “SELL” their MR2’s what is going on!!!!!!
A lot of these cars are nearly ten years old and people expect them to be 100% mechanically sound all the time. Get realistic about things almost any other make of car would not be running after 10 years as it would have fallen to bits!!
I have a 14 year old turbo that is not modified beyond the usual chip, exhaust & induction, It still boosts well gives me a lot of pleasure and if driven sensibly MOST of the time I hope that it will still be running in 5 years or so. This car cost me Just over £3,000.00 as it had only 48K on the clock. Where else could I get so much for my money? Believe me I have tried, I’ve owned performance cars all my life, I am now a fifty year old git and this is the cheapest performance motoring I have ever experienced. Its unrealistic to rev the ar$e off o 14 year old car all the time then complain about it breaking down on you.
Anyone else’s thoughts?

i think a lot of people are moving on as they've had the car for a few years and need a change.

my 15 year old car drives like it's new and the interior is mint, but at the end of the day it is old and has the old vibe going on.

i think it's different for everyone, circumstances change as well as people.

My rev2 is a pleasure, nothing has gone wrong with it, only stupid garages that willy up. I love it, it doesnt drive like new but then it gets abused and run at 20psi so I cant complain.

I brought mine as it was a cheap and a fast car that I can beat up and have some fun in.

I've just bought a mint rev 2 only done 22,000 miles, so hope to keep it for many years to come. The way I see it, it is a classic sports car!

Just got to wait 5 weeks for it to arrive from Japan =D>

Lots of people on NPOC selling their primera's....I have pre-sold mine....as soon as I pick up my mk1 (less miles than my primera) I will be letting it go.
People at this time of year also like to buy other cars...ready for the summer? Maybe...In an ideal world I'd (and other people Im sure) would like to run two cars...one for work etc and one for showing off/weekend. Its just too darn expensive thesedays. :(

was the car used purely as a track car mate???
cause 22k miles is less then 2k miles a year! VERY hard to do this, unless obviously it was only used as a tack car on the weekends.
still though 22k miles is VERY low.
can you be sure the milage hasnt been "tweeked"?????
