I think that's quite a good price from Toyota

I assume it's an NA though, and rebuildable struts are just getting new inserts?

If it's getting turbo billies, then it's a very good price, for as Jont has pointed out these would cost over

£500 alone.

Drop links are

£60 a pair, and top mounts what, about

£80ish?

To do yourself, it's always a case of having the right tool

(insert gag of choice).

If replacing drop links, then simply angle grind or hacksaw them off, as I find the hex centre never stands up to the force after a decade or so.

You'll need a breaker bar and 19mm sockets to undo the hub to strut bolts

- plenty of WD40/Plusgas on all the bolts first though.

Brake lines: either disconnect and bleed the system after, or hacksaw the strut bracket open.

Spring compressors are a must of course.

To get the top mount off, a good vice is really useful, or a second person to stop it spinning round

(front only).

If rebuildable struts, you'll have trouble getting the big nut off that holds the shock in

(I used a combination of stilsen wrench, blow torch, and then chisel

+ lump hammer).

Assembly is, as they say, the reverse of removal.

Grease up the hub bracket when putting the strut back in, and have a large screw driver in one hole to help you line up the other hole.

It is not a 2 person job, but it would help.

With the car up a decent height on axle stands I'd say about 2 hours a corner first time round.
