Best aftermarket lowering springs?

Post by TUR80 »

I bought a Tubby from Japan which has already been lowered with the use of springs only. The only problem is they are a little too stiff for the UK roads and feels a bit harsh over small pot holes, drains, bad surfaces, tarmac lump replacements etc etc..

Can anyone help in recommending an aftermarket spring which has a better ride?

I've used GMAX ones in the past with another car, but would like to know whats available for the MR2 which could be a slightly softer alternative without rising the height of the car. I must add that my car is currently not extremely low like the 'Citroen look' but has been lowered to the right height and looks just perfect sitting on 17"s.

have a look at the springs...are the coils evenly set all through the spring?

If not then u could get progressive springs, they're supposed to help with ride quality on our roads.
I have these but with 15" wheels, but the roads still win. :x

I'm using Eibach springs on mine. Doesn't seem to matter what lowering springs you fit though, because they'll be stiffer, and make the ride harder.

You just learn to live with it when you lower your car. Makes finding a nice smooth road all the more rewarding.

:-k IMO it does matter with the size of the wheels coz 17s are wearing low profile tyres which make you feel harsh. Maybe go for 16s, would be better.
