[Mk2] [NA] can anyone help me with this induction kit?

had a go at fitting this today, using the 'know your 2' guide, however its alot more complicated than i thought.
heres the kit i have bought....

any ideas peeps if i should drill into the cone for the sensor? and this one has a square end piece on it, how do i attach a hose to it?
should i think about cutting the square bit off?

any help PLEASE

Dont know about the turbo induction kits but that doesn't look like that'll fit an N/A no way no how Does the square section come off???

P.S. fill in the rest of the info in you garage/profile dude it'll make it easyer for people to help you out in future if they know what MK MR2 you have

Right, I understand you've got the square bit off so now you're in the same position I was in. Mine came off my old car and at £250 direct from pipercross it was coming with me! I'll explain the benefit of the Viper:

Theory
When you run an induction kit as a K&N etc. the engine uses power in sucking the air into the inlet manifold. Fitting a heatshield will reduce intake temps but you still have to suck the air in. The Viper uses a cold feed that contains a volume of air large enough to provide the engine with a cycle or charge of air. Too small a cold feed and the engine will still have to use a bit of power to suck in the extra air needed. If you also bend this pipe 360 degrees, fluid dynamics (and air in this case) will make the water or air at the outside of the bend flow faster so you can increase charge velocity. Thus a Viper kit will gain you extra BHP over a standard cone filter and with colder temperatures.

Mounting
The Viper will fit directly onto the end of the standard intake using the standard fixing clamps. I did this at first and left the stock resonator boxes on. Then curled the intake pipe round and down to the side of the car.





I like the red anodised ram pipe too so i made sure it was just visible



The sound was a deep throughty bark, but very quiet at cruising. It was commented by a K&N owner that the sound was very sophisticated. Not sure wether this was good or bad!

Removing the Resonators

To get the most from this kit you will have to remove the resonator boxes. They seem to remove the sound effects of the ACIS kicking in at 5K. After a little experimentation i shelled out for a 30cm 76mm inlet pipe (also in red), a coupler that reduced from 76-72mm for connecting this to the inlet manifold and a PCV breather filter as the PCV valve that originally re-enters the stock intake pipe now has to be vented to atmosphere.

You can get them on loads of ebay shops - mine were from maximumpowered.

You'll need to cut 3" off the new inlet pipe for the manifold end to bring the Viper cone closer to the engine, and then at the other end, 6 1cm cuts down the pipe so the pipe clamps securely onto the cone as it's a little smaller. I used some elctrical tape around the cone part to bring it out a bit and provide an air tight seal.
