theres some that have been supercharged, MRV6 has.

or turboing on a low blow setup would be cool
!

will have to save up some more stirlings

am i missing something.
.
.
how much was it to get done? and its got LESS power than a turbo?
why not just buy a turbo?!

Re: UK's 7th V6'd MK2..........
Dude, did you listen to the sound clips?

Its not always about having the fastest car, there isnt one person on this forum who has THE fastest car in the world.
So then it becomes about satisfaction, and that noise is more than satisfactory.
The cars will still do 150mph 0-60 in around or under 6seconds and quarter mile in the 14s.
Thats quick. As well as having abeautiful smooth wall of torque.
And this is coming from a rev3 turbo owner running nitrous, im just open minded to realise people have a variety of choices and tastes.

Re: UK's 7th V6'd MK2..........
yeah i've heard the clips, sound alright, but
(imo) having the sound without the speed is daft, i'm coming from owning a vx220 so i've had a car that sounds good and does 0-60 in under 6 seconds.
doesnt seem much point in spending a load on putting a different engine in a car if its not even quicker than a standard turbo version
(when a turbo is cheaper too), is it really worth paying a fortune just so your car makes a different sound?

I understand where you're coming from but if you stop thinking of cars purely in terms of straightline speed and start looking at them as an alround package of enjoyment and satisfaction, youll come to see why

people have gone for the 3.0litre conversion.

mate you really dont have to patronise me, i come from a vx220 background, which was/is all about the satisfaction factor, its

i had a turbo before i had this done.

it cost me

think everyone knows the pro's and the cons of a turbo and v6.

It's just the route i choose to spend my hard earned taxed stirlings on.

I havent drive a vx220, but i image they are a hoot to drive, but a lot dearer than what i got

Hi Mike

The V6 certainly isn't just about sound.
Although sound is important IMO!

It's a very tractable engine, and the power comes in from about 2500.
I can tootle ardoun in 4th and yet when I put my foot down I'm instantly away.

Re: UK's 7th V6'd MK2..........
is the power delivery really bad in the turbo then? compared to the na?

also, what car does the engine come out of? could be interested in yours foxy, how many miles has it got on the clock?

Re: UK's 7th V6'd MK2..........
Razor my man.
.
.
.
its got nothing to do with how bad/good the power delivery is in a turbo.

its all down to what you prefer.

i love the kick of a turbo at 1.0 bar and the noise, nothing beats it.
.
.
.but when you drive 20,000 miles a year, mostly london driving, i do not like the running costs and every thing else that goes with it.

the power comes in early and builds from 1600 rpm, hell you can even pull away in 5th at 1500 revs and it wont splutter, jump or what ever, just pull and keep pulling.
its all about what you want out of a car.

i reacon tho, a standard v6 isnt fast enough as a
"weekend" car, unless your mon-fri car is a fiesta
!

had this type of discussion on the mr2oc site and had enough, so its each to their own
!!!!!

the engine is from a camry, loads about for little money.
i was lucky to get a full history n reg one with 150K
( nothing for a car thats had to drive everywhere in auto and not allowed to be thrashed when the gearbox oil is cold
)
all for
£230 with
£60 worth of road tax.
So the engine cost me
-£600 after a load of stuff got sold from the donor car.
so its happy days
!

after re-working the exhaust and heads, i'll get it dyno'd again to see the gains.
.
.then its either trd supercharging or a low blow turbo.

the guys in the states have got excellant gains from turboing these engines already
!

Re: UK's 7th V6'd MK2..........
Wayne, I didn't realise that people added turbos to the v6, I'd just heard of supercharging.
What are the pros and cons and comparative costs.
If you keep it non-technical I'd appreciate it
(I'm going to sbits soon to be trained on servicing MR2s that'll be the height of my technical ability!
).
Has anyone turboed a v6 in the uk do you know?

no one, to my knowledge has turbo'd a v6 yet, althought in the states, theres a few, but they use the 5VE FE lump.

if you keep it low-blow
( under 8psi
) theres no afm, fueling, or internal issues, so the output would be around SC power.

theres a guy on twobrutal with all uprated internals and he is looking for a twin-screw supercharger going on, that should be in region of 500-600hp.

once you forge the internals, theres no end of fun you can have at 1 bar!!
