Cheers for all your input folks, all taken on board.Went to halfords today to try and find a gold what i liked for the paint code but they all looked to gold if u now what I mean.

Anybody now 1???which is used on alloys.

Been looking at the wheel today and the polished look is growing on me but am going to do the next 1 black as I already have some paint.

Am also thinking of just doing them all silver as I atleast now this will suit any colour(chicken springs to mind LOL).

Darryn I got these atleast 6 months ago so can't remember who of.And yes there should be centres but unfortunately mine are missing and I have not been able to source any,so they will have to go with the open look which also probably means I will have to bin the centre nuts as they look a bit out of place with no centre behind them #-o .

PETERCThe wheels are 1994 volks A V's .I soaked the nuts at rear for atleast half an hour b4 attempting to undo.Should have left them overnight really but was itching to crack on.

Luckily I had a spline socket which fitted, but if not I would have just taken the wheel to a tool/fasteners shop to get the right one. They don't seem to be torqued much(25-40 newtons)at a guess.

My Rays split rims are also 1994 vinatage, and look the same construction.

1) did you remove the tyre to take the center out?
2) does the center part have a role in the sealing of the rim ?

Hi,no mate I didn't need to remove tyre as they are only a 2 piece split rims.IE:centre and rim.

It is only 3 piece split rims which u have to seal as 1 is centre, then u have 2 pieces for the rim which then bolt to the centre.

Think the champagne colour would be good. Try the 'Champagne Remix' colour used on the Smart Roadster.

Also there is a guy on the Mk1 forum who machines wheel spacers etc. I'm sure I saw somebody recommend him for centre caps/nuts in another thread. Gotta be worth a go!

Looking good so far, colour wise (for the car) how about the Lotus Carlton so-dark green-it's-almost-black colour?

Another choice which I think would look really fresh is the flat looking metallic grey as used on the latest Lambo's and some Audi's/Mercs etc.

Might want to go for a different finish on the wheels with that sort of colour though.

Just a few thoughts....

Thanks mate, thats just what I wanted to hear. They look identical to mine, except my spokes are solid.

Thats a nice shade of gold, and as for the colour of car. What you suggested is exactly what me and dave discussed,as it is a great colour. And you only now its green when the sun is out.

Have been thinking about the anthracite colours but at the mo am leaning toward black :-k .
