1/4 Mile Times

Post by dai21t »

I ran my Mk 2 NA this weekend at Shakespeare county, managed a 13.637 @99mph. Most runs were about 14sec though. Have got a few videos of other MR2's that were there, will upload them this week.

How can you be pulling 14's all day ( by the way - very good !! :D ) then pull a 13.6 ?? timing gear not gone funny ??

I remembered at elvington, this chap ina supra couldn't get any better than a 13.4 all season.. then went to elvington and pulled a 12.2 !!! Needless to say, it never achieve that again !!!

Quickest I've seen an NA is one of the first model mk2's, exhaust and filter and managed a 15.09 ! - which is impressive !

Fastest ive done in my NA is 15.8 on my very first attempt, was quite happy with that. Wouldn't do it again though, drag racing is boring! ](*,). it just seemed a waste of time queing for about 40 minutes then it's all over in a few seconds.

Not to mention what damage it does mechanically, over heating in the que. then by the time it's your turn parts of the car are too cold , eg: gearbox and oil!

my unwanted 2p O:)

oh and I needed a new clutch after 2 runs 8-[

Its running 75bhp progressive highpower nitrous system, single nozzle. If the timing gear is out, then there's a lot of crap MR2 turbos out there. Fastest one all weekend that I saw run did 13.8 @ about 106mph. I had a couple of 13.9's as well. The 13.6 run was just one that went well, launch etc was spot on. My last run of the day was against a turbo, He was quicker than me by 0.05s. My car has the advantage of no lag
with smooth power delivery due to the maximiser controller. And it still did 240miles for £25. Bet the big power turbo's don't get that! Admittedly its crap off gas, I tried one run without and did 15.7 @88mph.

Where can I upload the videos? Any suggestions?

The car did 10 runs over the weekend, no problems at all, so whoever needed a new clutch after 2 runs, it must have been worn out anyway.

I use the nitrous in every gear. It was set up with 0.4sec initial delay so I could get off the line, 40% start power and a 1sec build time. On every gear change it dropped to 75% of maximum then built up to full again.
I didn't do any big rev launches as I only have a standard clutch, when I have a bit of spare cash I'm hoping to get a helix clutch and Fidanza flywheel. Will run more gas then.

And my brother ran his AX, best time of 13.5 @ 107mph. I've got a clip of him against a MR2 turbo, orange with veilslide kit and loads of stickers on it, anyone know it? Think he beat it by about a second.

Timing slip for MR2 is :

2.008 60
5.705 330
81.67 MPH1
8.748 660
11.31 990
99.27 MPH2
13.634 1320

Also had :

2.146 60
5.913 330
79.92 MPH1
9.026 660
11.654 990
99.59 MPH2
13.998 1320

My times were varying over the weekend because I was altering ramp times etc of the nitrous just to see how things differed. The 13.6 is a good base figure to work from, hope to get better than that though with a few other alterations.

Hiya mate, I saw you with the AX on Sunday but missed your runs the the MR2 sadly. Best I got was a depressing 13.5 @ 107, but then again my actuator is goosed, so feel there is much more to come, & until I get it fixed I can't use the nitrous :(
The guy with the orange Veilside said he had a best of 12.5 with gas, at only 0.7 bar boost, all the other tubbies were running 14, 15 @ 16 secs for some reason :?:
