Pic of my refirb'd rims.

Post by ryan »

Got them 'diamond turned' (rim only), due to damage caused by "wonder wheels".
Renowheel in Brigend did the work :)

Tell us more - I've been using Wonder Wheels on my alloys for years now.

Well, it pitted the rims badly  . I think it was due to the finish, though I was under the impression the rims were lacquered so they would be okay. The spokes weren't damaged though, so I put it down to the finish on the wheels. There is a warning on the box about unlacquered or highly polished wheels :?

I have used wonder wheels on my std 15" rims and never had any problems however [-o<

My standard 15's are looking a bit pitted and worn. I've been using "wonder wheels" for quite some time now, but I hadn't put the two together.

Maybe I'm unlucky, and my wheels had been refurbished in the past, without enough lacquer...

It cost 252 quid, including welding a couple of 'flat spots' and polishing my nuts ( ), which was a 10 min job.
The rims were 'fine diamond turned' :?

Renowheel in Brigend did the work :)

I had this done to my alloys and it only lasted about a year. The laquer started to peel and the alloys ended up looking like xxxx :(

Well the rims werent lacquered, basically because I wasn't getting the whole wheel refirb'd, therefore he couldn't JUST laquer the rim :? therefore I need to polish the lip once a week using some wheel polish
As long as I do this, he said they would keep their shine. 8)
