Paul Woods wrote:so what you are both saying is if one of my customers has high lift cams fitted, bigger injectors and chipped he wont need to worry about moving the t-vis point cut in?? of course he will! theres an application for everything which is why im doing it....jees!!! sometimes i wish i keep these things to myself if im going to get shot to xxxx.

Wouldnt it be nice to have a knob on the dash that moves the t-vis cut in point to wherever you want and can always be set back to factory? try not to be so negative people.

Ah sorry Paul, i didn't read your earlier post. I thought what someone was implying that TVIS opening point could be improved on a stock car etc..

Sorry to be pedantic, but the SC didn't have TVIS.

Nor did the later 4A-GE in the Corolla GTi

Hmmm very technical! and confusing! Study mechanical engineering at uni and am part of the formula student team building single seater 600cc yamaha r6 powered car. Went to a lecture by renault F1 and they mentioned stuff about variable length runners. It's mad to think all this technology came from the early 90's! Now ya get the dam government whacking huge taxes and limiting speeds. Silly if ya ask me! Why bother develping 1000bhp cars when a boy racer in a nova (oops sorry used the 'n' word!) is likely breaking the law and overtaking ya? But good lads to all the people at toyota and honda who are pushing things forward for us speed freaks!

Actually TVIS was on the MR2 when it was launched in '84, and I think it also featured on the Corolla GT a year earlier.

I'm at manchester uni, formely UMIST. You going into 3rd year then? Wish i was doing it for my third year project, it'd be so much more fun than testing hip protectors for the elderly! I just do it out of hours generally. Try and get on the team next year, it's a great laugh, stressful at times but where else are you gonna do 0-60 in 2-3 seconds at uni?!! Great start to get into car related engineering.
