I agree I think we want a bigger pitch next time, even if we only take 2 cars, but could we get one?

We do need to make the pitch more inviting I think, it did get awfully crowded, and putting all the bumf at the back meant few people got to read it. I think there were so many busy people in there nobody dared butt in. Hands up, how many people barely noticed they were at a show all day? I was quite suprised when I looked up at around 12 and there were loads of people.

20 20 hindsight is a wonderfull thing eh?

Be nice if we coud get 3 cars I think, one to be an example of what we're aiming at, gleaming, shiny and fully restored. (I think I may know where I can lay my hands on one of them.....) and two we're doing work on. If we keep the info, shiny car and tea/coffee area away from the business end we should do better. We need an MR2 lounge.

Bigger grinder needed next year too, and a booth to use it in.

Update:

That black Triumph Dolomite that was still being worked on when we left, eventually left the shed at 18.30!
They did get it going but they were the last to leave.
And it made it home without breaking down!

They were top blokes, bloody ambitious project they undertook as well.
Was impressed that you could remove the gearbox through the floorpan!

It's like the guy with the X1/9 at Anglesey. Limey helped him bodge together the throttle bracket that had failed and he registered on our forum to say thanks!

Hey everyone, just wanted to say that it was great to meet all of you guys and girls. I had a blinding time meeting/chatting with everyone and i cant wait for the next show, i was well knackered when i got home, you should of seen the look on my girlfriends face when i walked in covered in crud and i thought i was relatively clean or at least compared to some , she said to me have you been at paintball diveing in mud or have you been to that car show, i said both

Hey guys, had an awesome time. Thanks to all who came, got to learn a thing or two as well.
All i wanted to do when i got back was get cracking on my car again and as i sit here my hands are filthy after an oil/coolant change, stereo swap, new brake fluid and alloy wheel clean!

Look forward to seeing you all again soon now that the weather is improving and my 2 is coming back out to play.

Had a great time, thanks to Kirsty for organising and to everyone who helped work on my car.

Alas everything has gone downhill since the show. We parked up at a services on the way home to adjust the headlights and get something to eat when I noticed that my other tailpipe was hanging off so now I have both of them rattling around in the passenger footwell. Then today I got all ambitious and attempted to fit my braided hoses. It's not gone well so far but I've got all week to fix it even if I am supposed to be finishing up with the house move...

Speaking of which my nice new shelves for the garage turned up today and I got those built so I'll be able to move my piles of mk1 bits from the old garage to the new one now

Hmmm, depends what you're aiming at. It's a restoration show after all. Track cars aren't what I'd expect to see there as a visitor. Interesting to look at, and possibly good from a club point of view, but maybe not from a winning a prize perspective.

I think we want a shed or two, stuff with big holes in the wings and lots of obvious bits of rust to fill and sand up on the day, and a really shiny preferably all original one that looks like an autoglym advert for people to drool over.

so you have seen my car

I completely understand about the race car thing, people want a restoration, not a destruction

Riley won 1st place and noe of their cars required restoration, they just had bits and pieces of restoration parts laying around on benches. There wasn't a spot of rust in sight. I think that a completed car is useful in terms of demonstrating what is trying to be acheived.

I think the judge missed the point of the show to be honest. I reckon it must have been a different judge from last year, almost certainly.
