been down to the Restoration show today at Warwickshire........
Really really good to meet everybody there ........... Really good stand with lots of info and activity...... Hope to get involved next time around!!
A credit to all.........
found my self back in my garage after wards thou to try and get those dam 30 mm drive shaft bolts off!! Oh the joy. The 30mm bolt rust welds its self to not only the shaft but also the washer behind it and onto the hub......
After lots of heat......... half inch drive with torque wrench + scaffolding pole and plenty of WD40 the dam thing still wasnt for budging....... had to send reinforcements in the shape of DAD!, a lump hammer and chiesel!!
see the state of the nut afterwards!! It deserved it!

Its been awhile but all the time I still find myself either continuosly buying more and more bits or carrying out bit and pieces of work on the little motor.
It the end product, performance, handling, looks and pure driving pleasure that drive me on....
Progress is slow but I think Im getting there...... Just some links below which you never now may inspire others on!
Whilst i am on can anybody verify the below available from Ebay?? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=007
thanks to all

Looks like you've been busy!
I'm well on with stripping and refurbishing my rear suspension at the moment, I'll have to get another instalment up like you.
I've done a lot of work but still have loads to do so I know how far a bit of encouragement can go.
Keep up the good work - it will be worth it in the end
Well its been 16 months since I last updated the main reason is that I now have an 8 month old son!! Time consuming little bu&&er!!
I have now booked the car in for paint job on the 17th of Jan 2009 - this in turn has prompted me to get back out there are get on with it.....
Rubbed down flattened primed and repainted the frunk.........
Rubbed down flattened primed and repainted the boot.........
Refitted all suspension and brake parts (all cleaned and painted)......
Painted inner floor pans (extra protection!)
Refitted o/s door and wing...........
It hard work and time consuming but I can see it coming together now. Hoping to get it back from the spray booth by mid February and in the interim period I will be rebuilding and painting the engine!
Hoping to have it on the road by summer..................
Finally dropped the engine this weekend and so now with all four arches repaired and painted floorpans painted inside and out I think its just about ready for a re-spray.... Just got a few things to finish off this week such as aligning doors and wings and drilling (and tapping) a couple of snapped studs should be good to go this weekend....
Had a bit of a nightmare with the engine mount on the drivers side - for those that dont know there are 3 nuts to undo - one from the top and 2 underneath - the 2 underneath on my car were tricky not much space to move!!
Finally she was out quite a relief aswell as a sense of huge achievement - not looking forward to putting her back in when its nicely painted!! Will probably get a hoist for the return leg!
Also finally picked up some mk3 alloys that need a light refurb so hoping to refurb alloys and paint up engine whilst body is away.....
Hoping to have the car back within 4-6 weeks - it is a friend of a friend who has the honour! So I have agreed this period so he can spend as much time as needed............ Will post some more picture and engine pics over the next few weeks............
im sure when i stripped the susepnsion on my track car there was only one spacer. anyhow i cant see them making much differance. the only time they become usefull is when the car has been lowered and the bottom arms become inverted then spacers are need to regain the right bottom arm angles.
oh and have got to say well done, thats a proper diy restoration and then some!
So after more delays finally made some more progress this weekend - fitted lower valances - front bumper bar - finished painting underneath and spent a whole day drilling m6 snapped studs out and re-tapping - nightmare........!!!
Hoping to get it to the bodyshop in the next few weeks - will update then
Great pics. Now I know what to look forward to when I start mine in a few months time.
What equipment & paint did you use? I have never sprayed before, is it hard to do?
Latest update!
Car finally made it to Body shop for cosmetic prep and full paint!
Started stripping and painting alloys/engine and all other parts whilst car away:
fantastic stuff.....am going to do some exploring of my car this winter.....hoping it doesn't end up going this far but it must be satisfying to know that it's all done, and that you know how it all works, and that there are no nasties lieing in wait!
