What could I get for 6 grand? (Turbo)

Hi all. I want a turbo mr2. I had one before, (Rev 1) which I bought for about £4k, but I wrote it off last year (doh!). I now want to get another one, for about 6k. What could I realistically get?

My last one was a little bit rough to be honest, and I bought it on a whim so didn't shop around I want a black GT hardtop (don't like t-bar), presumably Rev 3 onwards in good condition. I personally don't like aftermarket mods, so would prefer completely bog standard. How late a model do you think I would get? Like year/mileage?

The best one I've seen at the moment is on autotrader for exactly £5300, which looks good. What do you think? I'm going to email him some questions. However its done 64000 miles which is a bit higher than I'd like. On the other hand, I rekon that a lot of these imports have actually been clocked anyway, so I'm not really convinced about all these 30000 mile jobbies

Let me know any advice or thoughts - I've not been looking for a while, so aren't up-to-date with prices at the mo.

6 grand will get a rev 3. you may struggle to find a rev4, let alone one at that price.

take your time this time. it took me over six months to buy my previous '2.

Might be worth a fresh import. do a search for importing and have a look in affiliates.

You will struggle to find anything completrely sytd, but i assume an exhaust, induction kit (anything stage 1 ) you dont mind? if so, should be ok.

Forget mileage, the Japs would have great difficulty clocking. over here its another story. condition of engine and chassis are what matters. Plus you should (roughly) be able to tell a cars age from its appearance and running.
If you are unsure about the car, fonzy has just started an inspection service. might be worth a try.

you should be able to get a mint rev3 low mileage, hard top for that price and maybe even a rev4. again look as many as you can and as soon as you find the right one, you will know about it. worth getting an inspection as well though as a lot have previously been crash damaged.
