[Mk2] [Generic] Cooling system overhaul - Oil cooler? forlife? - help needed

Hi All, I have a Rev 4 NA and I want to overhaul the cooling system. I was thinking new rad, new hoses, flush out an replace coolant. Anyone know what else I should replace and which hoses to replace and where to get them from? I was looking at samco but they only seem to do a set for the tubby. Is an oil cooler worth the effort? Is ForLife worth the money? Any help is appreciated.

You could do away with the hard pipes under the car and just lay big rad pipe from a motor factors. Oil cooler isn't worth it on an N/A. Most people don't even do it on highly tuned turbos. They just run the stock one.

I only put Toyota ForLife in my car, but many people will say any glycol based coolant is fine. I think thats what it is anyway.

As you're changing the radiator - get two new rubber mounts (that the radiator sits on), as your old ones will be well manky.

I've had a nasty experience with a previous car, not a 2, where cracked hoses and a knackered rad have cost me £££s after enthusiastic driving. It's a R plate and i'm just going to overhaul a few bits, cooling system and brakes first up as I want to keep it running smooth for a good few years yet.

Mine is an L plate Rev2 and the coolant system on that is fine. As long as its not had water run in it then there should be no rust.

If it aint broke don't fix it as far as that goes I would say. But its up to you at the end of the day.

If you really want to do it (I'd check/inspect first - and leave it if it didn't need attention) then also replace the thermostat with another Toyota rather than Blueprint or other pattern part.
