Post by simo2004 »

hi all

Number plates does anyone no the law on Number plates asI got pulled at the weekend for my front number plate!!! see pic attached

http://img258.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... 397ma2.jpg

Now i have seen loads of cars with angled number plates but they got me so i have to change it within 14 days or they will give me a fine or something along them lines.

pi$$ed off really as they tried to get me for other things and failed just leaving the number plate.

Worst thing is that the garage wants £10 just to stamp the form (rip off)

just wondered where you guys&girls have mounted you numbers as I'm unsure where to put mine

cheers

hmmm, doesn seem a bit harsh.

The law states that your number plate has to be fixed to the front of the vehicle. Which yours is.

The only thing I can see wrong with it is the angle is VERY steep compared to some, and possibly not be able to be read from straight on (ie, police car driving towards you)

Also, it doesn't have to be an MOT garage that stamps it...it can be the officer that pulled you for it. Contact the station to find out when he will be on duty and arrange an appointment for him to check its been rectified to his liking and shouldn't cost you anything

I'm hardly surprised, that's almost laying horizontal and quite clearly illegal

I'd personally go with a 13" X 7" JDM square plate within the 'mouth' of your Border bumper.
I'm fairly sure others on imoc have done this, and it's about as good as you'll get without being stopped by the police again.

Its that darn angle mate. Thats why the jap boys have those hinged brackets that hold them at the top of the mouth mate.

Mine is inside the damn car but because it still adheres to size, style and is VERTCAL ive not had any trouble adn had it ok'd (though cautiously) by the DVLA.

Just a couple of L-shape bracket and youre done mate, no big deal.
