[Mk2] [Generic] any 1 with an N/A -turbo conversion please read

hey guys, im looking for a turbo conversion for my rev 2 n/a at the mo and was just wondering what happens with insurance....... i no with mots they take the oldest weather its the engine or the chassis, but what about insurance? does the price stay the same? double? triple?
any help would be great thanks

I reckon insurance would be the same as a turbo model as it pushes out the same power.

most companies simply say no, others charge loads, most people lie, I got it properly insured an my REv2 with REv2 conversion, declared downpipe, exhaust, coilovers, RAYS it went from £550 (N/A) to £1250 to £1349 with out any accidents claims etc so I though bu88er that and sold it.

my previous MR2 was a conversion, it was just insured as a GT turbo.

My N/a insurance was with the RAC and was £197 fully comp. Whe I had the Turbo lump put in they would not insure it, so went with A-plan, all mods declared £397

I'm 21 with 1 year NCB and have just insurd my 1993 Rev2 for £800 fully comp, thats with Admiral!

but i think it s cause im only 21, i tryed a few insurance sites and said i was 21 and the price dropped asmuch as £1200 in some cases! 21 in 7 months its so unfair lol

I've found Admiral are quite good for young drivers.

I then did a quote "out of interest" for a tubby and it was just £950

i just reied about 6 times with my real age and me as 21...... cheapest i got was £1300

usually if you change the engine in a car for a Different one to standard, the ins see it as a Modification rather than an upgrade to a different model and the insurance usually goes up loads.. Prob more than it would be for a STD Tubby.. as the Tubby vers is still a Standard car!


H3RB - the area you live in can change your premium cost by hundreds! i pay £680 full comp 4 y/ncb .. if i insured it in strood, which is 5 mile from me and a bit of a xxxx hole, then im lokin at £850 !!

I found Admiral to be good as well. They were cheap, the excess wasn't too bad, and when someone crashed into me a few years back I didn't have to pay anything to buy the car back after they had paid out
