Removing windscreen
My car goes into the bodyshop this monday. To save myself some cash i've stripped the car myself, only thing i've not removed is the screen,i know this is a job for the professionals but is was wondering if i could get away with just removing the trim surrounding the screen. Is this possible?
Re: Removing windscreen
Mark
- the windscreen on the Mk2 is bonded in.
If there are any cracks or damage its unlikely to come out in one piece

I'd personally leave it to the bodyshop rather than risk removing it myself
- but if you fancy a go, the way I've seen my windscreen removed in the past when it has been replaced was is to feed something like a cheese wire
(or similar) wire between the glass and frame
- and then work that wire around the outer edge of the glass, breaking the bond between the frame and the glass.

The glass should then come out
.
.
.
in theory!

Re: Removing windscreen
Cheers Ben,so does the trim around the screen come out with the screen?
Re: Removing windscreen

how did u get the rear and quarter screens out?

how did u get the rear and quarter screens out?

Re: Removing windscreen
Remove the plastic interior around the window, then undo the three 10mm retaining
nuts.Cut around the inside of the window between the glass and the body with a sharp craft knife.Remove the black plastic triangle shaped vent from the the rear of the window, then remove the three self tapers. Now you should be able to push the window out from the inside, just take it easy and try to remove it evenly.
