sherwood green two tone?

Post by stevenb »

What are these like compared to other mk1 cars in terms of numbers built/value etc?
I'd love a Mica blue......all the ones I see are way to expensive.

Sherwood toning is i believe what you mean.

Well this colour was only available on MK1a's from 85-86. There weren't that many built, but then there aren't lots and lots of early MK1s around either, so you are reasonably likely to happen on this colour combination on a MK1a. The early blue or white (a lot lighter than Mica blue) for example is rarer i'd say.

That said i'm not a mega fan of the sherwood toning scheme but there are people that like it. Red is the most popular colour for MK1a's and i think its easy to see why as it contrasts so well with the black bumpers, sills and rubbing strips.

I do agree mica blue is a nice colour for a Mk1 (my first MR2 was this colour). They definately command a premium over white (but what doesn't?), but i don't see why they'd be that much more pricewise.

Thanks Lauren
Im not a red car fan at all Im afraid...blue is my fave colour.

I have seen a great little bargain on a Sherwood toning model. Everything is super sweet. I have never seen one on the road before. Only pics. Never seen the blue you describe tho.
Oh well...I'll see how it goes.

BTW did the Sherwood toning cars have pink/black stripes all round as standard?

Thanks Lauren for those pics. I have spotted a few differences to the one I saw.
1st diff. is the sideskirts. The pic you hace shown have black skirts.
2nd diff. is the rear mudflaps are not present on the car you show, fronts instead.
3rd diff. is that the stickers look a diff colour...just black......

I have got links to the pics. I have created.
Can you tell me if this is a Genuine Sherwood toning car.
It's one lady owner from new (bought straight from Toyota dealer) and she bought it a a local dealership (not there anymore).

Yep i'd say it was a genuine car.

The pics i posted show a sherwood toning without side skirts (so they are not black).

The front spoiler is the same on your pics but just painted. Whether or not they are supposed to be painted on a sherwood toning is difficult to say.

What year is it? I'm guessing 1985. Pity i couldn't see the number plate, i never understand why people cover their plates on the web.

It does look very clean indeed. What price is up for?

Phew...cheers Lauren... was glad to hear you say that.
its one of the last phase 1's. its an 86 D plate.
I have covered it up deliberately as I dont want anyone else to see it....I still dont own it yet....
Its in outstanding condition for the year.....just a few rust patches on the arches....I could fix them....super clean in/out.
totally standard.....mint under the bonnet. forlife coolant. etc
67k
1 owner from new.
this car is not even advertised anywhere.
clutch is so good...it seems new. 8 months MoT.
£I'll tell ya when I own it... :D

If he can't find it, tell him to re-apply to DVLA for a replacement and you'll be back when it arrives.

its a bit long winded but basically. bloke owns this car. (his wife drives it). he gave it to his mate in the village who owns a paintshop for him to sell. it aint advertised anywhere. I have been to see the car. looks straight and real. i said I aint buying it till the log book is found. problem is that the owner is in canada. :? ok...so how does he sign the car over then?
all the other docs etc are cosha. this bloke in canada has a gardener/slave who does bits for him around the home and graden. this bloke cant find it...despite the owner telling him where it may be.
I cant get this car signed to until this bloke signs it over to me can I? the hpi check show no outstanding parking/speed tickets.......0 previous owners (which is correct) and all above board....should I trust him and buy it? they are still trying to find the reg doc.
i dunno

well, it's upto you at the end of the day, but personally, I don't ever buy a car without a V5.

Saves an awful lot of (potential) problems.

Yep. Have decided that I'm not even going to entertain it until they find the log book. When they do I shall ask them for the vin and eng numbers so I can compare them with the Toyota database info.
