Should rev 4 GT Turbo T-bar have retractable mirrors?

Post by Leon. »

Hi,

As above, I'd be grateful if someone could confirm........

........only I was told that although the switch was standard on previous revisions, it was removed for the rev 4??

Just want to be sure I am being sold a GT and not a GT-S - if its a GTS I'll ask for more money off!!

Yes if it's a GT it should have retractable mirrors as standard, it was an option on GTS's.

Other standard GT features to look for are, steering fogs, abs, and a/c. Trouble is they were all optional extras for the GT-S so it might have them anyway. Steering fogs is probably the best thing to check for. The switch should have an up and a down position, one says on, the other has jap writting (steering mode) on it.

Air con was standard on all imports (sorry, being a pedant) so both GT and GTS got it. GT got climate control though (an auto setting on the switch)

It's worth haggling over if the car's being mis-sold, but personally the only "GT" extra I'd like is the half leather!

Well, maybe ABS, but then I haven't really driven in the wet yet...

I knew there was a difference.

The abs on mine is pants anyway, i'm considering removing it all.

Guys, I'm fairly sure its a GT but doesn't have retractable mirrors - is it possible that the retractable mirrors were exchanged for another feature?

I have (nearly got) a rev 4 tubby with:

Aircon,
Climate control,
T-bar,
Steering fogs,
Recaro seats
Aluminium sill plates - not stuck on either, they were done in the factory because there is a moulding on the plastic area that aligns with the plates.
Driver's airbag
Passemger airbag
.......

Any clues??

As Shaf says,it definately sounds like a GTS as it should have the retractable mirrors if it's a GT.A GT model will have suede door panels aswell

You can buy the plastic sill trim too:

Mind you, at £85 for the plastic I'd take my chances with a stanley knife on the old ones :D

I went to look at a Turbo in a dealers in Nottingham(2 hour drive from me)when I got there it had a Glimited badge on the boot lid  I said "this must be the wrong car I've come to look at a turbo",and they told me" it is a turbo "(and it was)so I asked "why has it got a Glimited badge on the back then"?They said "becuse it's an import".I said "bye"
The moral of this story is, the badge on the back don't mean s**t :!:

Maybe or what I suspect was a rear end accident repair job done with an N/A boot lid.The one you're looking at definately sounds like a GTS :)

That'll be Goulders then. Is it still there? I take it it was a white car. They've had three twos there, a white "turbo", a red NA and a SMG (unsure) for years. Mind you as they haven't moved for 3 years, they'll be low mileage. Knackered through standing, but low mileage.
