Shares in a Raw Striker 4AGZE - Anyone interested?

Post by Icsunonove »

Well after last weekend and all the damage done (SC finally given up the ghost, brake master cylinder failure, oil leak  ) it got me thinking that maybe I need a dedicated track car....

And I haven't thought it through properly yet, but.....

Would anyone be interested in part owning a Raw Striker?

I know there are lots of if and buts (e.g Where to store it, trailer, tow car etc) but anyways......

I've been waffling on the phone this afternoon to Mel (the managing director) at Raw Engineering. My initial question was this: "Will the GZE unit fit straight in?" His answer was basically "Yes". All it needs is some modifications to the steering column, that's all.

I'm sure we could cobble together an engine of sorts cheaply from all our contacts here, so is anyone interested?

(Of course it would have to be bend it / mend it policy)

Interested in the weight for towing purposes. Don't forget to factor in the cost of the trailer as well..

Yes  . I thought you were in the room at the time? :? ... Didn't you hear him tell me "We can't afford it" about twenty times?

Anyways after he had told me the twentieth time I asked to be put back onto you. But he refused to hand the phone back over!

Well I've made a decision...Both the Italinails (X1/9 and Coupe) are going and going sharpish.....

And I will buy a Raw Striker rolling chassis. If someone wants to come in with me at a later date that's fine.

I'll speak to Mel at Raw Engineering tomorrow and see what he can do regarding delivery....

My housemate has built his for around 9k.... granted you can poss get some bits cheaper... (he bought a 20 valve 4AGE omex ECU etc)...

so prolly closer to 7k mebbe :)

weight generally betwee 500 - 550 kg apparently you have to go for a bike engine to go sub 500

Tom you have the engineering know how, and skill (welding permitted  ), so why not build a locost?

It will be considerably cheaper, and you can still use the 4agze.

and also if you go the route of the mobile mechanic you have a *show piece* I can build you your own car type thing.

It is the pikey option though.

Wouldn't touch with a bargepole in all honesty.

The stryker is known for good handling.... you may well struggle with a locost.

whilst i would be hypothetically interested in a stryker... NFW with a locost.

They race them in the 750mc!

regs here

http://www.locost-racing.com/racingregs2.htm

linkys here http://www.pistonheads.com/clubmans/lin ... age=locost

although would be a nail, it would be tailered to you. plus you also have the dimension schematic for the mr2 mk1 now. so you could always put the suspension points in the same place and make up the rest.

do I just fill your mind with pipedreams?[/url]
