[Mk2] [Generic] Upgrade from AC to Auto Climate Control possible?

Is it possible to upgrade a "standard" AC to an automatic climate control from say a Rev3 GT Turbo?

i have a rev 2 and it has e con and air con or whatever, i set it to the temp i want and turn it to auto, works a treat

yeah, my rev2 has air con and e con, plus the auto.

econamy air con me thinks lol

Yes e con is econamy air con. it switches the crompressor on and off to help save fuel. when the senor detects that the air temp coming through the vent has started to increase if switches the air compressor back on to cool the air down again.

and in the GT models too i am just luck to have the auto/climate control too as mine is a GT

My GT-S has climate control - the slider is marked in degrees C rather than min/max or whatever. If it has 'Auto' as a switch position for the fan, then it has climate control.

So the car has an AC with a control unit which looks like this (no econ or auto):



And I want to upgrade to an automatic climate controle with a control unit which looks like this:



If an upgrade is possible at all, which parts do I have to change,

I think the main stumbling block will be whether or not there's a wiring loom for the Climate Control unit - there's an extra connector on the back of the CC unit.

My UK car without AC has a loom for AC behind the dash, but I couldn't see another for the CC slider

The sunlight sensor shouldn't be a problem - UK dashboards have the hole, it's just blocked up with a plastic clip thing

HUH is that 2nd pic the 'Climate Control' version?? if so , that means my turbo rev3 GTS has Climate Control!! yay!

i alwayse fort the climate control unit was digital, with a lil digital number display on it??

All JDM mk2's have 'analogue' climate control.

Thinking again about the missing wiring in UK cars, it must be possible as I believe Peter @ Sbits has done this. It ain't going to be easy though if the wiring ain't there.
