sorry - i was sort of taking the p1$$ (would no way expect people to do this for free, and I don't have a welding proficiency badge ;) ), but the rear arches need doing on our SC... and then obviously respraying after...

If anyone fancies a go though :-k O:)

Oh - i've just realised that this *may* conflict with a rather important date.... some of you may have sore heads

:!: without this the satnd can't go ahead - as this is a 'display' stand we need the display boards to be there.

I can't give the final go-ahead for the club booking without knowing we can get stuff there.
If soemone want to look into hiring one, then thats great - quote needed, but should be okay for the club to fund :thumleft:

[-o< at the help that has come forward, but remember i can only get 10 free entry passes, so first come first serve etc

If it'll go in the back of a Hi-Lux Surf then I got this covered no problems.
Can also cover the hand tools part of everything. Happy to organise and help out. If its arranged properly then I can always do a circuit to pick stuff up. You'll get a 4AGE in the back of the Surf - we got an MZFE in there!

If no transit van is possible, I could possibly also help with transportation. I don't have anything as special as a Hilux (!) but a week ago I managed to get a washing machine and fairly large CRT in the boot of the Pug no problems - and the boot door closed too! So as I'll most likely be coming in that and seeing as it looks as though someone else can supply the crane, there'll be plenty of space in my car if needed...

Also, for the tickets - do students get any discount in case we can't get the free ones? :)

don't know if this will fit into a hilux without too mucj over hang?...

I live just up the road from leicester in loughborough, and i have no problems with hiring a van from here and filling it with tools, engine crane etc. and picking up all the display stand stuff and driving to the show.

I'm also happy to set stuff up and am working on a pictoral display of the work i have carried out on my car for a large poster. I also may have access to a projector and screen and some videos of mk1's going round a track. This is being done to display the work for my university motor club, but there is no reason why it cant be used here aswell.

this sounds like a top idea chris.

posted at same time as my reply to Tim. it makes sense to hire a van from lough, if poss (if no free alternative) as the display boards are in lough.

As for the projector - brill - yes please! (you could always do a small 'plug' for your college)

also the project car (whichever it ends up being) will need to have a comprehensive pictorial and text display to fit on at least 1 huge board, maybe 2
(this is why i considered the mr2 only car, as they have loads of photos and writeup already, and they could prob print out all their own display stuuf) - i'v enot approached steve yet as i wondered if people would ant a different car.

As i will not be there, i will leave it up to you lot to select the car/work to be done.

now we have more helpers, we may be able to have 2 cars on the stand. the options for cars are (please edit):

Tom - Preparation work prior to respray / changing T-bar seals
Mk1Chris - Turbocharging his 4AGE engine! / engine swap / fitting new front wings / tidying up rear wings
Anna - Welding (what needs welding Anna?) / respray
+/-
MR2 only restoration car (if people want me to ask steve)

My vote for 1 is Tom's seals as I want to learn how to do this too.

Fitting new front wings is doable as well IMO. As far as tidying the rear wings up what exactly needs doing?

I think the MR2only project is a good idea for the club to get a lot of exposure in the mag.

I wouldn't mind help with the pulley conversion on the SC if anyone's interested in that being done during the show.

The car has had new panels welded in, but the welds are rough and they need tidying up, filling and painting. Trouble is tho, that this car also needs the fuel pump changing and as such wouldn't make it there under its own steam and i do not have access to a trailer.

Its my other MR2, the black one that i've nearly finished fitting the Nitrous to, 8) , that i can get there easily. You've seen it Chris, its not the prettiest car, but i still have lots of trick parts to fit to it for the track. I have a full set of polybushes to go on if any one fancies me bringing along a real challenge  .

Aside from that, no worries with the van, i'll get some prices from places in loughborough and let you know jo.

may be worth popping a note up in Off Topic to see if anyone works for a van hire company, or knows someone that'll fix us a discount?

An alternative project is the removal of my waxstat and the fitting of a manual choke. Chris is not going to need his anymore and I wanted it for my car. Not sure how long that takes to fit though....

Evening all,

If more help is needed I am available for what it's worth. I'm not particularly experienced or anything - I can make tea, or polish spanners, erm, or something
