[Mk2] [Generic] Anyone running a RPS clutch

Post by MRV6 »

Gonna be upgrading my clutch in the near future. RPS Sport sprung hub 6 puck clutch. Anyone had any experience with one?
Cheers Phil.

Phil,

I think the 6 puck Sport may be a little too grabby for your liking mate.

What sort of torque is your motor producing? That one is rated to 399 ft/lbs.

Tim has an RPS Sport in a single disk thats rated to a little less (324 ft/lbs), but it'll probably be a lot less heavy, and much less grabby mate.

That said, if you don't mind a more on and off type clutch, the 6 puck is the way to go.

Take it easy buddy,

EarL.

Thanks for the info guys. I should be looking @ 350-400 ft/lbs of torque. Any thoughts on this one?

i do belive tim from TB advises the 450lbft clutch over the 399lbft one, i think its because its more 'friendly' to use.. not sure why as they are the same make, but i take his word for it!

Mines the 6 puck 399lb one. It's very on off but you get used to it.

Hi mate, v6 engines are still in their infancy but there are a few tuning parts coming through from the states so I'm just doing abit groundwork. But yes I'm hoping for 350+ ft/lbs of torque.

I might have a chance of driving a deuce with a 6 puk in her.

thanks for recommendations earl :)

yes i usually recommend the RPS MAX clutch over the 6 puk mainly because its less grabby.

Its a little heavier on the pedal but its easier to live with as being a disk it has less of an on/off action and a bonus is it will also has a higher torque capacity due to its increased clamping force.

For an everday car the RPS max Disk(450ft/lbs)

for a harder live like drag applications/weekend warriors :)
the RPS Street Puk (399ft/lbs) or RPS MAX Puk (525ft/lbs)

All clutches are instock if needed.

Hope that helps.

I've got the 450lbs one supplied by Tim. Absolutely GREAT clutch. Very easy to live with as long as u aint in a traffic jam lol.

Only thing is if you keep it on the biting point for a few seconds the thing reeks lol. Only time i notice it is when i park it in my garage. Not once has it slipped though.

Great piece of kit. PITA to fit though hehe

I'm gonna need a replacement clutch soon, just wound the old CT26 + supporting mods to 15psi and it's starting the dreaded slippage :(

Anyone know why Fensport clutches are so expensive compared with, say, the ones listed above?

I can't work it out. Are the fensport ones special? Even with the IMOC Member discount it's still really REALLY expensive?

i will be shortly. looking at a few months to get myself vat regestered and the unit all up and running.

Not sure on the price but i'll be competative with everyone else without under cutting them.

I think the going rate is around £120 for drive in drive out labour on fitting a clutch.

LMFAO thats worth the drive to the bottom of england for me then. It cost me £300 labour not including VAT.

Clutch replacement was an 8 hour job. I know some people can do it quicker but £120 and being worth while for you?
