Yes boys! New kid with an old MR2 here!

Post by SwissHeavy »

Was introduced to this site earlier this late evening by a gentlemen called Rich... tried to keep up with him but Turbo's are absolutely immense! Was so thrilled had to sign up right now!

Only had the car for a few weeks... Dark Blue MR2 T Bar, loving it, a few problems, one of the calipers were seized, had the discs and pads replaced and also the inner arch was torn up, had that replaced too. But it still drifts to the left slightly (had the tracking done) and it can pull quite badly to the left when braking.

Now the numpty before me cut the springs rather than getting proper lowering springs on so if anyone can advise please do. My mechanic said £25 each corner plus near £200 for standard Toyota springs so damn near £300 in total  Damn it.

Anyway, also, the speakers are crap, and advice on how to improve my system, I have an Alpine head unit with 6 disc changer then please point me in the right direction of a reputable person in Manchester (which is where I live)

Only niggling problems, but overall, very happy with the car, pity I couldn't beat Rich... maybe next time buddy!

if you wanted better lowered springs, many places do them, alot less than 200 quid, for instance www.fensport.co.uk do a set for 109 quid. they are expensive on some counts but have been serving the toyota community some years and have a great selection of all sorts, lots of other places around, 200 quid tho!.. go breakers yard, plemnty of good springs out there, you could quarter that price for a set!

Stay away from fensport spring, they're carp, no offence to people that have them but they are crap.

Stay away from standard springs at the that price and also stay away from used spring.... sorry Fonzy.

Get some Eibach spring, they're the best about and they won't kill your standard shocks. The Eibach lower the car about 30mm which is plenty, anymore and your car will be worse than before.

John

Disagree with the crap fensport springs, before i got my coilovers i had the F1 progressive springs on stock dampers and they worked very well, sold them on when i found the right coilovers and the new owner is very pleased also. Car was taken out by good old Tiffanydell and he asked what had been done to it as it was one of the better handling MR2s at MR2004.

Ha, Ha, didn't you think whenever he was introduced on top gear they said "Tiff Needle" to fast so it alway sounded like Tiffany Dell. My mum asked me once "That can't be he name surely?"
