Come on who was it? Spinny Spinny down the bank in Odiham, Hampshire.

Post by knobby »

Hi Guys

Not really into the MR2 scene but having seen what I did on Dec 1st of this year was the funniest thing i have ever seen during my driving Experiences.

So i'm coming back from work with a mate to my home town, was running a little late for a meeting so driving a little faster than normal, still under the speed limit mind as on wet roads.. So coming down this dual carriage way section we come up to a Black MR2, looks like a turbo, had a air intake across the roof, huge exhaust hanging out the back and large multi spoke wheels. So we come up behind this MR2 pretty fast, we slow down to his speed as he didn’t fancy pulling over, we then follow him round the round about, going slightly faster than usual as he has now increased his speed to try and impress us, was surprised he didn’t loose me round the roundabout as i was in a big fat 330 BMW. As we come off the roundabout i don’t know what the guy does but a whole load of power all comes at once, he totally looses control of the car on the wet road, spins right round in front of me so he's facing towards us with a look of panic on his face, he then continues to bang up the curb, going backwards along the curb, before flying down a 6 foot ditch through a fence and finishes up into a field with the cows, looking at us in total shock. The guy looked fine, i think it was just his pride and car was all that was dented so we carried on to our meeting.

Just wanted to say, THANKS, never seen an accident on the road, a great story i have told all my mates, and a story i shall never forget!

Good luck.

Cheers

Knobby.

It's always sad to hear about another MR2 getting smashed up.

Hope the driver was okay, though. MR2s are surprisingly tough in a crash...

Yeah it must've been hilarious seeing someone total their pride and joy, mind you i guess the sort of person that p1$$e$ X amount of cash down the drain(or X amount of mr finance man's cash or the company's )on a 330 B*W probably would find something like that funny.

Anyhoo have a happy new year :D

PS You do have a point though, dont show off in a car you obviously havent learnt to drive properly, i also imagine he used the usual "diesel on the road" excuse.

For the record it was a 2000, BMW 330ci, Personal car £12, paid in cash. This car is my pride and joy, thus the reason why i drive it sensibly and within my limits.

It was unfortunate that this guy slightly damaged his car, and my laughter was at his expense, but it was bl00dy funny!

Bravo that was a good story of a needless accident, love all the post story defensiveness of the mr2 owners - not one has said the tubby driver was driving badly, just the usual BMW jibes :thumleft:

Well, we're not going to openly slag off a fellow MR2 driver are we?!

The 'usual BMW jibes' are expected because they are usually true for 99% of the BMW population who live in their small disillusioned motoring bubbles and have this strange belief that they really, really do drive some sort of prestigious car and don't have to follow the Highway Code.

Nope suppose not, even though the mk2 driver let the side down, in front of said bubble-clad, suburban, IDD (indicator disfunction disordered), prestige car fantasist

That was what I was going to say....
Either the accident you talk of wasn't serious at all, or you don't have much compassion.

The only thing to be said is that I hope the mr2 driver learnt from his mistake and won't push beyond his abilities on the road in the future. [-X

loving all the BMW remarks, very funny, I know what you mean, as i am not your average BMW driver, infact i am no longer a BMW driver. Yet you go out and test drive a 330ci and tell me you dont enjoy the experience!

We didn't stop as two cars had already stopped across the road and as i said above the driver looked fine, and I was late for a meeting.

I put the post up here, really to find out if the guy was indeed ok, to ask him how the hell did he get the car out of the field and what on earth happened...

Funny that. When I read your post it just comes across like you're gloating. You didn't ask at all whether anyone knew if the guy and his car were alright.

No car accidents are funny. I hope you're never involved in one. If the guy had been driving like a total idiot then maybe we wouldn't have much sympathy, but instead you've found the time to join a forum just to say how funny you found it. =D>

Indeed, or "boost came on unexpectedly to soon". I hate hearing of MR2's spinning off the roads as it give the car a bad reputation,.... and their drivers.

330Ci...is a poor mans M3 8) ... period!

I had an M3 as a company car for approximately 18 months. A beautiful machine. Good power, comfortable, quiet, all the gizmos and the sequential box is a treat and a half! Very easy to drive fast with a lovely engine note and induction noise! An excellent motorway muncher, but thats about it ;)
