Anniversary model turbo?

Post by Leon. »

Can someone please confirm that anniversary models weren't just produced in the UK?

If not then the car I'm interested in buying is a UK conversion.......

Its a turbo GT T-bar anniversary model, '96 (probably a Rev 4)

Ta much

All anniversary edition cars were normally aspirated, whether they were UK or Japanese (and there are Japanese ones).

Anniversary is not limited to UK cars - and for your info Tubby's were not sold by Toyota GB.

all Tubby's (unless converted UK cars) will be imports.

have a look at the chassis number - take that to your Toyota Dealership and have them look up on the PC what that car is registered as - if it comes up on their machine it's a UK car - ie when sold by ToyotaGB it was an N/A.

HTH
cheers
frank

EDIT: and as per Rogue (know's his onions  ) only NA's

It says it is on the ad, and has the alum door sills. Can't see properly inside the interior to check the steering wheel. It doesn't appear to have twin turbo written on the side either......... it a conversion for sure.

Its the silver/black combo being sold by a garage in Manchester - not sure if I'm allowed to name it??

If it's silver and black then it's not an anniversary, the silver anniversary cars were all silver. I guess the one you're talking about has a metallic black top half, these were not anniversary models.

It may be a genuine turbo but it doesn't sound like it's an anniversary car - if that's what you're getting at by "genuine".

I think it is genuine - I mean factory fitted turbo - just spoken to the guy and he doesn't know as much as you guys about the anniversary/turbo/colour situation, but we've now cleared it up. It is pretty clear that it was sold to this dealer by someone claiming it to be an anniversary model. Its a turbo import, rev 4 hence the revised toblerones - pretty sure I'm right here - and two airbags.

I'm gona go and see it at the weekend.............. only bu88er is that I live 200 miles away!!

Better be a gooden or I'll be claiming my petrol off him!!

Well good luck - and keep your "sensible" head on when looking at the car - don't go all stary eyed just cos on the outside it looks clean Image

Oh and remember to knock him down on the price seeing as you now know it's NOT an anniversary model - if he paid more for it on that basis make sure you don't !

good luck !

Cheers Frank!

Yeh, I'll definately get the price down, and like you say, I'm gutted about it not being an anniversary model, infact I'm in tears :^o

Here's the spec:

1996 Rev 4 GT T-bar turbo
43k miles, silver/black, full Recaro interior, Toms Induction Kit, AC/Climate Control, PAS, CL, EW, EM, ABS. 12 Mths Mot, 6 Mths Tax. Showroom Condition throughout. Warrantied mileage.

Its up for £8,250 and I've already got it down to £8,000 on the phone and I'm sure I can find a couple of defects to get it to £7,500, especially with Ben Formesyn's 4 page check!! Cheers Ben

Let me know what you think.......
