[Mk2] [NA] Cambelt keeps slipping!! And i need a mechanic in or around shropshire

Post by shane1978 »

Yes i'm getting frustrated now.
Having had my escapdes with Cornish Garages! (see other post)
My cam belt slipped after 2 months of driving!
Have realigned cams after buying and putting on a new cambelt tensioner, all was fine for around 1 day then tonight it decides to jump tooth again and cut out!

](*,)

I am now thinking pulleys/cams may need changing? Any input anyone? Why would it be slipping a tooth? but not being an expert would like someone to look at it for me.

Also clutch is slipping lots! Its only 30000 miles old so need that looking at too!

Anyone willing to help out for the good of english sterling?

Had Cambelt and Clutch done at 136000 done 166000m and had the cambelt changed again at 164000 due to it slipping a tooth down in cornwall!

(Have adjusted clutch at pedal too which helped a bit but still slipping!

I may have top buy a small car and use my bike for thrills!

I believe the cambelt for rev3 plus cars is different by number of teeth. Do you deffo have the right belt for your rev fitted?

Cheers Guys

I don't think a rev 3 would fit would it and line up properly? I'll have a look though.

Cheers i'll give Chris a bell.

well if it is the wrong belt it was the one supplied to and fitted by the garage in cornwall! b******s and wouldn't it have gone sooner rather than after two months! My problem created by a garage that cost me £320!

Further investigation leads to Damp in coil due to panel not being in place ](*,) , assumption of cambelt due to having just replaced it! No driving through rivers now! (hard when i live in shrewsbury and it floods!)

Cheers Guys all the same - Just the clutch to do now
