Porsche Boxster drivers - bigger knobs than Beemer drivers?

Post by Amelio »

To cut a long story short...bender in a boxster S comes blitzing it up behind me in a 30 just after i pulled from a juction and attempts to overtake. ](*,) As i was in second i put my foot down so he wasnt able to.

Get to a roundabout (now in 60 zone) both round it and onto a bypass where we both hit reasonable speed, he is up my ar$e and decides to over-take on a bend making an on coming car swerve half her car onto the grassy verge.

I did my best to catch him as there was a big round about just down the road...wanted to smack the xxxx out of him but he was too fast.

Along with BMW drivers, they are all pr1cks.

Yes mate a lot of them are, but if i were you i would have let him pass you in the 30 zone, whats the point of blocking him? Just dont take the bait of driving foolishly in built up areas.

I agree - perhaps they're hurting from not being able to afford a 911?

Interestingly though, I had a play with Caymen S on a straight dual carriage way, and managed to keep ahead of him for a while (until I got bored of outragously speeding).

When he went past he was fine about it, and we both just continued driving normally without any "attitude" i.e. tailgating/undertaking/reckless display of power etc that normally follows this sort of thing.

So it's definitely not a Porsche thing - just the Boxsters?

The zone is a 30 but its not built up and it comes into a 60 very soon, plus the road was straight.

But i get your point - no point in causing an accident. But i did want to dent his fat head somewhat.

I think it is you who is the spanner in this equation. It is sheer and utter idiocy to accelerate when someone is trying to overtake you.

Do you really have such a massive ego that you can't let someone else overtake you without resorting to childish tactics?

I don't think you have done MR2 drivers any favours tbh.

And in answer to your question, yes of course all BMW and Boxster owners are dickheads.... they must be musn't they?

Check with a Traffic cop and I think you would get a ticket for it as well

That's all that matters. You were doing double the speed limit.

Bannable offence.

Oh no!!!

The speed police are out in force!!

Watch out, people are extremely safety consious around here! You are not allowed to even stray over the magic 30 speed limit.

Morons!!! Get a life

Tbh if you 'race' on the street then you are a moron. We do not condone illegal activities on IMOC.

This section is supposed to be about driving experiences not 'races' up and and down dual carriageways etc.

My point was that accelerating to stop someone overtaking you is sheer and utter idiocy.

Couldn't agree more. There's so many tossers owning MR2's now that they're p1ss cheap, it's dragging the reputation down a bit.

It kind of paints a bad message for the whole community a little when they say BMW and Porshce drivers are dickheads. They probably say the same about dickheads in 10 years Jap Imports.

unfortunately as soon as any car drops down into the £1500 - £2500 bracket the market is opened up to every chav and his cousin round the corner.

This fact has put me off getting an E36 3 series coupe as too many seem to be driven aggressively by idiots.

One of the things that has persuaded me to get a Tubby is the exclusivity, and enthusiasm of the owners. I'm glad there are people on this forum that have slated that guy, and the thread didn't descend into BMW/Porsche bashing =D>

Gives me hope :D

I agree with the author and quite happily Porsche bash on the Boxters... as in a previous post where I got slated (surprisingly!) I agree and think buyers of the Boxter are people who can't afford a proper Porsche like a 911 turbo so opt for the poor-man's (relatively) model. Good thread Amelio. =D>

The trouble is a boxster is a real porsche. Spending 30K+ on a car hardly qualifies you as poor!

Really? I see many cars aggressively driven by idiots, but it doesn't seem to be model specific. I actually have an e36 coupe. Very good car IMO.

So do I Lauren, but out of the cars I was considering, the E36 (great cars that they are) are the one that, imo has lost it's premium status the most. Real shame.

Exactly! Plus they are fantastic cars too.

The whole Porsche/BMW/whoever bashing thing is mainly just poor man versus rich man jealousy. The same people that bash expensive car drivers are the ones that if they had the expensive car themselves would look down on drivers of "inferior" sports cars.

Very funny matey, you made me :D :D :D

Amelio, I understand your sentiment, however please consider that if someone desperately overtakes you it does not de-value you or your car. It only indicates that the over-taking person has an ego / esteem issue for which they could benefit from therapy. Just smile and wave them past... if they have an esteem issue they will think themself superior - in other words they will fly on the wings of a lie, which, as always, will at some point come crashing to earth with difficult consiquences for them. On the other hand if they challenge you and you decline to lower yourself and do not take the bait, they will then feel hopelesly inadequate for making themself look like an under-developed adolescent posturing in the playgound.
