[Mk2] [Turbo] 2bar + Gt3071R + Plus new TB and Inlet Manifold = CRAZY and PAINFUL

Post by MR2lover »

Well after 2 weeks wait for the perfect weather condition ie NO rain, The legend Mr Paul Blamire Mapped my car at silly o'clock again for the new custom intake manifold and Rev3 throttle body plus 2 bar on the gt3071R (ATP version, 60 trim) and a GM 3 bar map sensor. Two Words to describe = Crazy and Painful. Cant wait to get on dyno now as its gunna create some damn high figures. When the gt30 comes in at 3600 rpm for 2bar boost its like someone is trying to break your neck. You are instantly thrown back into the seat and cant move your head hence why i describe as painful

Was an eventful evening after having one of the wastegate vacuum pipes pop off and suddenly hit 2.2 bar  Needless to say we had to pull over and put some pipes back on and secure wastegate pipes on again

Wastegate problem was also fixed by paul can now hold 0.6 bar to redline which is good for this time of year. Cant praise this garage enough www.zenperformance.co.uk

Will get paul to send one of the logs over from datalogit to show the spool up of this animal of a turbo.

Near the end of the mapping session we were just crusing along about 70 mph on dual carriage way getting the cruise burn correct and a m3 undertook us and gave a cheeky smile, Paul Immediately put the Det cans on, head into the laptop and gave the word  dont wanna make this a driving experience thread but this was the guys face :pale:

Zen are good. I got my car mapped by Paul for the first time when I installed my PFC. He's a very commited guy and knows his stuff. However, I would say though that mine was done on the road without a rolling road and in my experience you can't do a sorted map without putting it on the rollers first, hence my trip to Rob @ Perfect Touch.

M3 demolition job was funny. Must be a torque monster! And full boost by 3600rpm is very good.

That sounds fantastic Ryan. Rreally chuffed for you mate. Really lookng forward to see what mine does. now

Great to hear it's hitting full boost, and producing M3 destroying torque before 9 million rpm too.

Just goes to show, that a well chosen turbo can produce the goods, and be drivable.

See i would never get my car tuned on a RR as you just cant simulate the load, air flow properly but you can get a better cruise map while using the dyno due to being able to hold at a certain rpm for as long as you like which you obviously cant do for to long on road.

Yh is deffo a torque monster when i had the xspower turbo on it was 302 ftlb @1.4bar and now feels nearly twice the amount

Thanks for good comments guys

Nope. Can't see it being mapped this side of Christmas either.

We're still waiting for the inlet pipe and filter that Aaron forgot to put in the kit, and the pillar pod from Eddy. I'm getting pretty cheezed off now to be honest mate. It's a never ending fight with suppliers.

Never mind, eh? :(

Can't wait to hear what numbers yours is making.

Believe me mate, If it was up to me, I'd have it mapped and back on the road yesterday. You've got no idea what it's been like for 8, yes 8 months...

Hey bud

Yup using the st205 still and its perfect, had max inlet temps of 29 degrees at 2bar last night. No bottle necking at all now with the new intake manifold and Rev3 TB. Was a damn good mod.

Your top of the class in my view mate with turbos etc. =D>

What you recommend is :thumleft:

Not going to go for the bigger cams now the rev3 intake cam is perfect for me as its now to fast for road now really

have you got any pics of your inlet manifold?

Will get some pics tonight

But its basically a rev3 inlet manifold which has been extruded honed and modified to fit the rev2 head
