MR2 mk1 1989 T-Bar

Post by The TVIS Kid »

This was up for sale a couple of months ago but didin't sell (price to high and MOT too short?) so its back up for sale with 11 1/2months MOT and two months tax.

Heres the orginal thread: http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic. ... light=1989

Since it was last up for sale its covered an couple of thousand miles but has had another oil change and the gearbox changed as the synchro was going between 1st and 2nd. For the MOT it required a new exhaust and it has just had a new battery, both parts still have warrenty (1yr exhaust, 3yr battery). The only advisery on the MOT was discolouration of the number plate (which is not a fail, in fact just one number has faded slighty).

I'm looking for £1250. Any questions drop me a PM.

This still a bit pricey or just the wrong time of year? Maybe i should keep it until early spring and go for the convertible aspect.

Well, for starters the other thread seems to have disappeared.
So, any chance of putting the details up here for it?

ok new description:

89 tbar with 93k.

Engine: Massive service history, fully stamped until 73k then serviced by myself, oil every 6 k and plugs every 8k. In the summer i changed the coolant. It had a new clutch at around 80K which is still under warranty, i also changed the gearbox around 1000 miles ago as the synchro was going between 1st and 2nd and now its fine. Just had a new back box for the MOT and i changed the first part of the exhaust for a newer one. Also just ad a new battery. Doesn't use oil or water and runs as it should. As i already said it passed its MOT just needing the exhaust but no advisery (the front droplinks where replaced for the last one). Also has lots of other receipts for work done, oh and the cambelt was changed at 60K.

Bodywork: It has the odd scab of rust (very minimal) but is very good for year, The front wings where professionally repaired around a year ago. There are a couple of stone chips but nothing that it noticable untill very close inspection.

Interior: Leather seats in good condition but the drvers seat has come unstictched (not torn) on the seat bit and has temporarly being re stitched. Rest of interior is in good conditon. I have the sun shades, t-bar bags and tool kit that came with the car.

Problems: Ariel stuck in up position, motor still makes a noise so i guess the cogs have either slipped or being stripped, slight wear to drivers seat and slight leak from t-bar in heavy rain alothough i sealed the t-bar last winter to stop this but removed it for the summer.

Missus already has a celica 182, hence why its on the celica forum. Personally i don't like the huge rev range/gearing, seems to take forever to get over 5k rpms and the thing just wheel spins all the time, it drives me mad.

Just got 6 months tax on it and 11 months MOT left on the 2 though. Another bump
