2x MR2 MK1's (spares or repairs)

Post by mowe1979 »

For sale, 2 White T-bar Mk1 MR2's. I need the space!!!

One first registered in 1988 has MOT (until apr '07) and has been driven until nov '06 but will be sorn very soon. Has a black leather interior (tatty seats, but rest quite clean). Bodywork (see photos) has rusty rear arches, but fairly sound elsewhere. I did spend £80 soundproofing the floor this summer, but cannot remove it as its stuck in.

The other first registered in 1987, has been SORN for 3 years. Again it had a black leather interor, but have cherry picked, some parts for my daily drive (did replace with old parts from other car). Its was a project that I never had time to work on, so has sat in my parents garage (apparently they didn't build their garage to store my car, how unfair!!). Now most of the interior is in boxes.

I am selling both for spares or repair, as a pair. I am open to offers around the £400 o.n.o.

If you are iterested or want to see other photos or make a sensible
offer please contact me at [email protected]. Both
cars are located in Norwich, Norfolk.

Hi,
What's the mileage on the 1988'er? As it's still driveable, when does the tax actually run out? (I'm guessing end of the month, but could you confirm that?)
Do you have any photos of the two?
And would you sell them separately?

Thanks.

I will get some photos put on tomorrow. and check the mileage (i think its about 125000ish).

I would sell them separately, again i will get all infor together monday eve.

Finally the tax, the drivable one does have 5 months tax on it at moment, but i was going to cash it in (as it is worth about £80 to me). I could leave ot on and add the £80 to the final price if thats is ok.

Sorry for not having the information to hand, but busy couple of weeks.

Will post all relevant info monday night.

Help!!! I have taken some pictures of both cars that I am trying to sell, but can't get them on here?? Am I just being stupid, but how do I do it?

I have had a good look round both cars and good news/bad news as follows,

God news

The 1988 which I am currently driving (until tomorrow, all going well with my third MR2's MOT, 3 MR2=angry parents!), which is running ok. It goes and stops fine (but the engine has a rattling noise when accelerating, which I have been told is the inlet/exhaust clearances needing adjustment). Milage is 130,000 miles.

The tyres (on 5 spoke alloys) are all legal, but nowhere near new. And the interior is black leather, seats have seen much better days, but rest is very good. When I had the carpets out in the summer (to fit the soundproofing) the floor inside was all nice and shiney 'new looking' white, with no obvious rust.

Thats good news, no some bad. The rear wheel arches will need replacing as they have been attacked by the dreaded metal worm (but I couldn't see much wrong with sills, inside doors or front wings).

And in the front 'boot' there was a long term oil leak from the previous owner. He fixed the leak and left it, I rubbed the paint and it all wiped off. Not had time to respray front boot, which has a very light coating of ferrous corrosion (would wipe off). Not anywhere near structural, just unsightly at the moment. And I havent got round to removing bumpers, so don't know what the bumper bars are like!!!!

Oh and t-bar roof is ok at the moment (previous owner had put what looks like red grease on the points where the t-bar seals and top of doors meet). Dry as a bone inside!!!

Hope that hasn't put anyone off, but trying to be as honest as possible.

The other 1987 car is my current parts bin. As you will see from photos I had started to sort it out but not finished.

It has the interior (again a black leather one) mostly in boxes in my garage. The inside floor of this car is 90% sound, with a small hole where the 'bung' in the floor should be. It has scruffy front wings, one very 'erroded' rear wing and one that had been replaced so metal sound in that one. It does run (I occasionally start it up) but hasn't been out of my drive for a couple years so would need a trailer.

It has two good alloys one ally that had been heavily knocked (all three a five spoke, sort of dark chrome design), and one mk1b alloy.

Its 99% in my garage, just needs repairing and re-assembling (which I don't have any time for).

Right now for the clincher, money.

I think if I am going to sell the separately I would be looking for £300 for the drivable 1988 car (without tax, but with 4 months MOT) and £150 for the one thats in pieces in my garage. As I could make more than that if I sold them off in bits.

Please make me an offer and can some one tell me how to up load pictures onto this site from my desktop??

I have been asked for a few more photos from a few people, so I have been able to go round the car and locate any small points of corrosion that I could find.

I have also inlcuded some photos of the interior (which really needs a good hoover before someone picks it up).

Just to comment, I did have a 'poke' at the corrosion I found, and it all seems to be surface rust (nothing terminal).
