Feedback/Rating System

Post by poyntesm »

All,

IMOC has now introduced a feedback/rating system. Below is an outline of how it works.

The seller starts a topic in a forum marked as a trading forum. Currently "Parts for Sale" and "Mr2s for Sale" forums are the only such forums.

People post as normal in the topic. Once an agreement on the sale is reached the seller will 'finalise' the sale. At this point he can select from a list of people who posted in the thread or manually enter a forum username or select other if a non member bought the item.

Once the sale has been finalised feedback can be given. The seller and buyer each get to give feedback and get to respond if required to the feedback left for them.

We are introducing this system as it was a highly requested feature. We will watch closely how it is used and the response to it and may in the future make changes based on feedback.

I plan to post a more detailed overview...but since its now beign used thought we should announce it.

great stuff!

Any intention of adding this to the "Affiliates" sections too? Wouldn't work in quite the same way as there are usually multiple items available in those threads though.

It possible we could have for each affiliate a section to place individual sales if they wanted. However it would be up to the affiliate to decide if they wanted to use the system. The system is still a work in progress.

hello bud.

is it possible for people to comment on my feedback?

i've had a few members purchase items from my store and were happy as usual  but asked why they couldn't leave me feedback to show this.

Any advice?

Tim,

Currently no its not. I mark forums as trading forums and the only ones are the parts/mr2 for sale.

As you might / might not know the committee member in charge of affiliates is changing as Toni has stepped down, also the renewal comes up 31st December. I had planned on chatting to the new affiliate admin and getting he/she to get some feedback from the affiliates on how they would like a system like this for themselves.

The main issue actually is clutter. The system is transaction based. A post is classed as a transaction once finalised. So you would need to have a post per customer sale to give feedback. Obviously that would clutter your current subforum. I am looking at either a single subforum for affiliates to place sales in should they wish or another level of subforums in your existing subforum. If that makes sense.

Either way its something i had planned on going through with the new affiliate admin.

You comments as always would be very welcomed. Just bare in mind I do not want to redevelop the solution totally. I want to just adjust it to meet the affiliates needs if possible.

Regards
Esmond

ah ok i understand.

Maybe a suggestion is not to show a feedback rating on the affliates profile. Because we all sell from our own stores we don't get a chance to build up this feedback rating.

Doesn't give new customers alot of convidence who doesn't understand the system when the affliates have 0 feedback but jo public has lots.

Hope you understand what i mean :)

Would you like the chance to build up feedback?

i don't mind. i think it might be a good idea if we've got a feedback feature. Looks better than having a 0 lol.

I've got nothing to hide, i was always a fan of being able to praise suppliers on here, but also be allowed to say if you've had a bad experience over just hushing it up. I think only suppliers who really aren't that bothered about there service has something to worry about having a negative feedback section either on the forum or there profile.

How about opening up the Parts Wanted forum to allow trader ratings?

Most sites allow trader ratings/feedbacks that are not tied to specific posts. They usually have an option to link the rating to a thread, but many sales/buys/trades are done thru emails and PMs

Parts wanted could be classed as trading forum as well. I might do that later.

The system is post/thread based from a forum marked as a trading forum. End of. Its how it was designed and will not work any other way.

Just left feedback and it was throwing up a lot of header errors and a foreach error (but worked)

Need to output buffer more :)

Yeah I got all that gunk on my screen too.

And why are the only options at the bottom "preview" & "cancel" ?

The "submit" only appears after doing a preview :-k
