MK1a MR2 in need of repair

Post by Aitch »

I have a silver Mk1a MR2 with a blown headgasket that I'm not going to get round to fixing any time soon, so it's high time it was gone to free up garage space for a new project.

It has 130k on the clock, but no history. There is very little rust and the rear arches have been done at some point in time. As well as the head gasket, it needs the windscreen wiper linkage, gearstick gaitor and drivers side electric window motor replacing, parts for which will come with the car. The pillar mounted aerial also needs replacing, but I don't have that part.

The engine can be heard running and I've driven it and can confirm that there are no gearbox issues.

I paid £350 for it and have spent some money getting the parts together but haven't had time to fit them. I am looking for something near to what I paid for the car.

PM me or email [email protected] for pictures or any further information

Free bump.

Has there really been no interest so far?
If you were closer I'd be interested, but as it is it's too far for me to have to move it (wouldn't want to drive it that far with a blown headgasket...).

When you say there is very little rust - where is the rust that there is?

The only rust is surface rust on the front spoiler and a little at the front of the front wheel arch. other than that virtually nothing.

If the weather is good this weekend I will get some pictures. :)

The car runs but there is no tax or MOT so it would have to be trailered away.

Cheers HT :thumleft:

It seems too good to break for spares and I don't really have time to either do that or fix it up and could do with some garage space back to put my new Mk1b into and release some driveway space to park something else on :(

Bump

This is still for sale and still a sound project to take on - the shell is good and the bodywork is okay and just needs a bit of TLC and a cheap engine putting in and it is good to go

I'm open to offers - I could do with my garage space back now :(

Hi,

if neither of the people at the weekend take it please let me know - I'm not too far from you but won't be able to make it have a look till later next week.

- when was the car last MOT'd?
- Any idea what shape the clutch, exhaust, brakes, etc are in?

cheers
