[Mk2] [Turbo] ATS TD06 fitted yesterday. Woohoo!

Post by Kongaroo »

My eagerly awaited ATS TD06 was fitted yesterday at SBITS. It went on smoothly with Peter managing to get all the relevant bolts out without any snapping.

Even so it was a long day and respect to Peter for such a tidy and complete installation. Thanks again :D

My engine bay is starting to look almost blingy now with that big shiny external wastegate sitting in the middle, LOL.

Now awaiting a dry weekend to dig out the G-tech RR and test the turbo out properly =P~

You're right I probably should get some pics while everything is still looking nice and new :)

Just the usual bolt-ons in terms of modifications - exhaust, IC, Boost Controller - I just added the TD06 in my IMOC garage

Powerwise, I read on the US MR2OC website that on a stock USDM longblock and cams running 550cc injectors (+usual IC, Exhaust, intake)they achieved 309RWHP at 16.5psi using a ATS Romtune.

So I would hope for a something similar (albeit lower) at 16 to 17 PSI on stock rev 3 ecu/fueling. Suspect my standard clutch will start slipping well before I reach the 18psi fuel cut though.

Will post up any interesting figures as and when I get them...

Nice one sounds like you just need to get some ems sorted and then you can strech its legs a bit.
At least youve got some thing that will spool fast and still work on low boost with the stock fueling and when you get better fueling and EMS you've got room to go up from there. :D

Sorry: EDIT My clutch was a standard clutch, but now with TDO6, its slipping....

Gone with an RPS MAX street one, so hopefully no slippage!

Welcome to the gang, Kong. :thumleft:

Blimey, we'll be having a TD-06 only forum soon.... 8) What shall we call it?? "No GT kits allowed?"

OK, TD-06 owners . . I'll be announcing a bit of fun for 2007.. 1/4 mile times based competition. Spread over the whole year.. Both standard and modified classes so everyone can get involved.. With hard cash prizes!!

Keep it up guys - let's show that the TD-06 is STILL the best road going turbo available for the MR2.

Yeah...make sure you keep it TD-06 owners only 8)

There'd be no competition if the GT kits entered  :D

Harry - still waiting for it to stop raining to test it properly. Hoping for a dry spell Saturday morning!

Julian - kept seeing your car undergoing work at Peter's during the last couple of months - good to see you are now back on the road with some serious power :D

Peter - an ATS TD06 competition with prizes sounds great. Hmm... doubt I'll be winning any prizes with my pansy launches, LOL. Will definately give it a go if it does go ahead though.

V8Killer - Looks like TD06/GT turbos are destined to replicate the good old mk1/mk2 rivalry

Do they bolt straight on or manifold required?

They bolt straight on to the stock manifold using the CNC machined adaptor block:

As you can see, it is a complete kit.

BTW, Julian had his TD-06 mapped at Thor today. He will be along soon to reveal the details.. :silent:

:D Hi Peter! As Peter says, Rogue had completed fitting my LINK XLEM & RPS MAX street clutch and then arranged for my 2 to be mapped on Thors Dyno with some good results.

Last November I had a CT20B, Pace chargecooler, Revision 6 zorst, all running on a HKS FCON V piggy back which all gave me 301bhp @ hubs at 1.0 bar.

Now a year later, my car has a TDO6, Radtec chargecooler, Link XLEM and other bits... .

Now with my new RPS Street Max clutch, my 2 was dyno'd quite late today with 352 bhp @ hubs at 1.4 bar

To be put it bluntly Im 'kin chuffed to bits! \:D/  \:D/

I am yet to get my car back as it is still at Rogue Motorsport and will be getting it back today (friday) so will post up my dyno sheet then O:)

All I can say is C'mon, woohoo TD-O6 baby, yeh :thumleft:

Thanks for positive comments! Will let ya know how it feels when I get my car back.........Still waiting!

Its a LINK XLEM replacement ECU (G1 IIRC) that Thor Racing supply and map. This is now discontinued and the G2 and G3 Link ECU's replaced the G1.
