Hmmmm I am with Mr Sheavils on this one - reckon I must certainly be near 20 Mk1's - maybe tonight if I get a moment I will detail them all.

Had all varieties, t-bars, sunroofs, hard tops - manuals and autos, NA's and SC's!

Had 4 SC's - 2 of which I bought from Japanese Auctions and imported myself.

Owned some genuinely nice motors - every single one has been different - will own many many more yet!!
"If in doubt - just make the numbers up!" ;)

Only on 2 in the last 2 1/2 years. There's a black MK1a sunroof model almost ready for the body shop - the trim, bumpers, lights, weatherstriping, interior etc are currently in teh bedroom - I have a very understanding girlfriend who is be becoming less understanding as the time passes. I did buy a red early MK1a to drive through the summer whilst the black one was having some TLC spent on it but the project has taken longer than I expected so has been replaced by a Rover 200 Diesel - shhhh don't say it out loud but I have got to admit that I am loving the fuel economy. I can't wait for when the weather gets better and I get the 2 back on the road.

C reg Mk1a Sun roof in red - Boss's car in 88, mine after he lost his license - the love affair started there...

D reg Mk1b SC in Bark blue - bought 2001 now locked away in the garage

E reg MK1b in Dark blue - bought as a spares car 2002 and sold on last heard of was nosed into a hedge

F reg Yellow breathed on MK1b - bought 2005 Still own

B reg Mk1a Slightly modified into a mk1.5 - bought 2006 short affair swapped with another enthusiast with more time.

wish list - mint SC SE; mk1b converted to black with a tan or mushroom interior, SC light weight / tin top, blinged up 3sgte in the yellow car.

I've owned just 3, two of which I still own, and one of which I've had for nearly 11 years. But for 8 of those years the car has been in storage in New Zealand (I never anticipated settling in the UK when I first came here) and I only get to drive her when I visit my folks - once every 2-3 years. :-(

Currently debating whether to bring the burgundy SC over to the UK or to sell her in NZ...

I've owned two.

89 SC GTLD + TOYS but not quite SE. (bought and written off in 2001)

88 UK NA (Bought in 2001, converted to SC using above salvage in 2001 + mods) - currently undergoing "restoration"

Both dark blue 8e3, both t-bar, current one has black interior (leather), first one had blue interior (hope Lauren isn't reading). ;)

I have never owned two of the same cars. One MK1 for me. If I sell it it will be the last.

Various reasons.

I replaced my first one after writing it off. Then my re-shelled second one went rotten, so the shell ended up being scrapped, so bought a 3rd to restore.

So i've killed two and brought one back to life.

For Mark:

He sold his NA to buy an SC, which he then wrote off a month later (famous fence incident). So he then got another SC (again an auto), I showed him the way of the manual, so he bought a cheap 'track' orientated SC to play around with. He still had the blue 88 SC at this time.

Then out of the 'blue' (quite literally) we happenned upon a super rare Super Edition, which of course Mark wanted, so he bought that one at a great price on the spot.

So i don't think its a case of people thinking they have to own as many MR2s as possible, rather its down to circumstance for the most part.

I'm on my third. I bought my first one, a 1987 mk1b in white, in 1997 and sold it in 2001, then in 2006 bought a silver mk1a that needed work, but then lost motivation to do the work and at the end of 2006 bought a mk1b Tbar in red that is in very rude health, selling the mk1a at a loss a couple of months later #-o

I've had and still got two.

1985 mk1a with mk1b kit, 108,000 on the clock currently being readied for MOT.

1985 mk1a 73,000 on the clock currently breaking.

Just love mr2's so cheap fun to drive and Jap!
